Supportive hug. It is a tough time. And I hate to say it but for me it went on for several years. I had to work on ways to honor her. Or just doing something she would like.

She loved to shop. Every year I take her birthday off and "we" go shopping. She could touch every item in a store. Would drive you crazy. So I go and really prowl. Hit the sale and clearance racks in some of our old favorites. Usually find something great that she would have loved and we would have bought. Talk to her in my head the whole time.

She loved Christmas but she was always picking up little things for people when she was out and about throughout the year. Nothing big just little items she would see and know you would like so she would grab them and you knew she was thinking about you. So I kinda combine the two traits and  every year I leave it to her to send me the inspiration for 2 people that she would have liked. The names will just come to me at some point. Then I pick them up something small and I tell them about Mom and why she would have liked them and this is one of the ways she would have shown it. People are usually touched.

Mother's day didn't mean a lot to her but it's still tough on me. Being reminded that others still have a mother is hard. I find myself disliking them at times. The people not their moms.

Top all of this off with the fact that we all have such complicated relationships with our mothers.

You're right, of course. Use those tools you've got to get through.

Another GORGEOUS day here - was supposed to run this morning but my body will not let me run every day so I could tell it was time to take a little break. Did upper body and core but not super intense.

Eats:
- Mango protein during workout
- Smart Life honey bbq veggie wings, cherry carbmaster
- fresh cherries
- one of the "things" should my afternoon hunger go into overdrive.
- no clue on dinner yet.

Meow

Be happy.

Had a rough night so I am pretty tired, but all in all things are really good. Not TOO hot so I hope to get out to the beach and get a good pic of my bike there so I can use it for another thank you card for the folks who helped me get it. Then I will drop the bike at the bike store for a tune up and head home to get ready for wor****il 1am. I have my "Spinnerval" class this evening too, but my legs are sooo tight and tired it is going to be tough to get through.

Today is my oldests first day of Kindergarten! He was so excited that I didn't even cry. We are going out to lunch with some of our friends from church/school after the kids get out.

BF: Protein coffee
S: Protein coffee
L: either a cup of chili or a hamburger patty sans the bun (my pouch HATES bread)
D: Not sure what I will be making. I am thinking of letting the little man choose.
S (If I need one) cukes dipped in dill/garlic greek yogurt dip I made. Yummo! I love that you can make greek yogurt savory or sweet!

My quest to try new food is going really well, I must say. I am learning that things that may not have agreed with my pissy pouch earlier on, I can now tolerate. It makes life a little more interesting that's for sure.

WOOT! Kudos to you for keeping the variety in your eating plan. I think that's one way to ensure long-term success. Boredom can drive us to do strange things.

I look forward to reading more about your culinary adventures.

I saw the post earlier but was headed out the door....to guess what!!  I really stepped out of my comfort level and went to water aerobics!!  I used to go when i was a member of the gym in the town I used to live but the only one I can afford is on base where hubby works! Totally free!  The other gym in town is like $65 a month which is crazy!  I am totally feeling the muscles now...lol  need to get up and clean up but hubby called in sick today so I'm just perturbed with him at the moment.

It's a wild fun loving bunch so I know I will be going back just getting there in plenty of time to shower and get my pool shoes on and get on the shallow end.....LOL I'm short so I was treading water alot and doing the moves....my feet barely touched the bottom of the pool floor.

Food as I know it:

B-  scrambled egg with cheese
S-  Cheese Stick
L-  Thinking about grabbing a salad somewhere
S-  not sure, maybe fruit or some chicken
D-  going to make corned beef in the crockpot with potatoes and make some steamed cabbage.

Happy Monday!!

Hope you feel better soon Nik!

It's a bit of a manic Monday. I'm feeling really happy because my new tattoo is healing very nicely:

But I'm a little bit down because I took a bad fall during yesterday's 8 mile run and am really feeling it today. My ankle is swollen beyond belief, my hands are scraped, and my legs are scraped and banged up pretty bad. Honestly, it's not the pain that gets me...it's that I shredded the cord on my Bose headphones. Hopefully I can just get a replacement cord. I can still use the elliptical to keep the ankle loose, but am banned from running and dead lifting until it's all healed. Nooooo.

Anyway, today's food:
Breakfast: Coffee
Lunch: Roasted turkey and vegetables
Dinner: Either taco dip or homemade pizza. My pizza dough might need extra time to rise, so we'll pick based on how that looks.
Snack: Blueberry protein muffin
Snack 2: Eggs and zucchini

I'll have to keep calories a little low this week since I won't be doing too much strenuous exercise.

Hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful start to the week! :-)
