OT - One good thing about my "free loader"
Recap for those just joining "All Nik's Ass-Pains..." I am letting a friend stay with me until he gets on his feet. Last post was about him complaining about how noisy I was to which I basically responded "go to hell." (with strong affirmation from people on this board.)
Update: we've resolved the noise issues. I still make noise. He sort of deals with it, lol!
Honestly I think it was just a matter of me explaining to him that hey, buddy, you live on my couch. I signed up to help you get back on your feet, not to live in a monastery! I think we're actually good now, dare I say it? The weekends are the only trouble spots. On weekdays when he's home I'm at work and when I'm home he's at work and doesn't get bac****il after I am asleep.
But a benefit, I've found, is that since he runs the projections at the local movie theater I can get in to see any movie I want for free.
Mindless acts of generosity...sometimes they do have benefits!

Oh I already put the clock on it. Cuz I am the world's most obnoxiously Christmasy person and I can't have a downer around for my first "post-mom" Christmas. So he has until Thanksgiving.

That is so generous of you to let this man take over your couch while he gets back on his feet. Does he pay you anything at all? Do the dishes or chores? If not especially he should not complain about your noise or whatever. You're incredibly kind to let him stay with you like that. I wouldnt want someone living on my couch and would find it hard not to resent the invasion on my privacy and space. I'm glad you get the perk of free movies! They sure aren't worth paying for so that's good. I hope he moves out well before Thanksgiving.
Oh he'll be gone by then. Ready or not.
No I don't ask him to pay anything cuz that will mean it takes longer for him to GET OUT. He does help around the house though.

I'm glad he helps around the house. That's huge. Was he laid off from his job? Is he working somewhere just to have money for rent down the line? It sounds like a tough situation and you are a saint for taking him in. Not many people could do that including me. I love my privacy and my home being a refuge.
I have no idea how he's coping. Not my problem.
