OT - *I* am the writer!!!

Ok this is the only place I can post this where the offending person has no chance of viewing it.

I'm a professional writer for a non-profit organization. Today I sent a story that I tweaked from a blog post to a staff member. The post had been written by some college students who are volunteering and it was all types of hot messes. So I fixed it.

Why did said staff member send me the story back in its original jacked up form and had the nerve to tell me *my* verson didn't read well?

Ok, not to sound snobby but good writing doesn't happen by chance. I studied this for many years. And I'm good at it (as evidenced by how many DONATIONS my stories elicit). So I am just a wee bit irritated because a) you felt the need to reverse my hard work making something sucky into something good b) you show no respect for the fact that I DO THIS and you don't and c) because if you're going to send me something that you say is better than what I wrote...um...make sure it maybe...I dunno...IS.

Hmph!

Hadda get that off my chest.

i hate that. maybe you can tell them why you fixed certain things?

on a similar note, i have a professor that is extremely intelligent and i respect her a lot, and honestly hope that she ends up my thesis advisor (or at least second reader), but italian is her first language, and she frequently "corrects" my writing to improper grammar or words, like using verbs in the wrong tense, or just flat-out the incorrect word.

We have a Nik at my work. Her name is Sally. When Sally writes or edits something, I treat it as carved in stone. Why would you pay for someone's professional expertise and then not use it?!

Some people are just stupid.  Try to ignore them.

That really sucks. You're a great writer! That staff member must have gotten knocked in the head over lunch or something crazy like that. It sounds like a frustrating situation.
