Today is...tough. My mother-in-law's cancer has spread to the point where it has caused a kink in her intestines. She cannot eat and they can't do anymore chemo until she's getting some kind of nutrition. They cannot do surgery to fix the kink because she is too ill. She has to choose between two options: Either have a 12 hour a day nurse come to give her IV nutrition and chemo or enter hospice care. It is times like this that I feel horrible, guilty, and ridiculous about any struggles I have with eating too much. I hate it. I'd give anything for her to be able to eat. There is nothing I can do except be there for her, and that doesn't feel like it's enough anymore.

I'm sorry to have vented so much, but I can't concentrate at all today.

Positive things: I got up and did my run this morning even though I was feeling depressed, which is a big deal to me. I resisted the urge to have an "I'm sad and I don't care" bagel and cream cheese from the bakery this morning. My husband and I are having lunch together today and I'm happy that I get to go see him during the work day.

Breakfast: Black coffee
Lunch: We're going to the hot bar near Joe's office and he tells me that their roasted turkey is very good and that there are lots of salads and other healthy options. Always looking out for me.
Snack: Maybe a yogurt. I didn't bring one today so I will have to pick one up somewhere in town.
Dinner: Zucchini fritters or steamed shrimp/vegetables from the Chinese place. It depends on how we're feeling.
Snack: An egg and wheat toast, or some yogurt and a peach.

I hope everyone has an excellent Tuesday. Hug your family.

Vent away.  Such a tough place to be, I hope that she finds the peace she needs to make her decision.

I'm feeling that Insane Cardio class I took last night!  I love that morning after feeling, that means it was a good workout!

24 oz water before breakfast
B - Fage, cherries, splenda, Special K protein cereal, ground flax
s - hot green tea, splenda, at least 48 oz water before lunch
L - I took some taco casserole out of the freezer.  I need to remember to take it out of the fridge before lunch so it thaws all the way.  Otherwise I'll have to venture off downstairs to the cafeteria to find a microwave.
s - I forgot my mint cookie protein (sob) so if I can't talk my kids into bringing me some (I may bribe them with lunch money or movie tickets) I'll just have to use my single serve Nectar stash in the desk drawer.  I only have Lemon Tea and Carribean Cooler left, neither of which I am thrilled about.  Maybe I'll have a protein bar today instead.  Wait.  I don't think I have one in my purse.  Gah.
D - something with ground beef.  I have it thawed.  Ooh, I also have a head of cabbage to use up.  Maybe some sweet and sour cabbage and ground beef.  No real recipe.  I make it up and it's different every time!
s - maybe a nsa fudge bar if needed.

Today's dos:

A 3 mile run at the gym, followed by whatever other machine I feel like doing.  Hubby is talking about doing the Run For Your Lives 5k in Austin in December.  It's a 5k obstacle course where you are chased by Zombies.  If you lose all 3 health flags and cross the finish line with none left (they have "health packs" along the route) then you do not survive.  You become a Zombie and I *think* (though it's not clear in the wording) that once you cross the finish line you can go back out on the route as a Zombie to take other people's flags.  Sounds fun, but I'm iffy about it.  I don't know if I can run fast enough to not turn into a Zombie!

Thank you all for your kind words. She has been and continues to be so strong and positive. I know at this point that is becoming incredibly difficult, but her spirit is amazing.
