I am a vegetarian, and become so after surgery. I'm working on becoming vegan, and would say i'm 98% of the way there.
It's very possible - I do have a protein shake once a day and use a vegan protein powder (there are a ton out there, and I don't use soy powder, i think it's nasty). I eat a lot of beans and meat substitutes. as a result i eat more carbs then a lot of post ops, but my weight loss has still been very good imo.

i want to say i was 2 or 3 months in. i tolerated meat just fine but it did sit a bit heavy. i feel much better since i stopped eating it. i had tossed the idea around before for years.

I've been a vegetarian for about 26 years. I get about 90 grams of protein a day without too much effort. It's certainly possible to get enough protein as a vegetarian.
As far as vitamins, the ASMBS says you need two adult multis with 100% of the RDA of most things, 1500-2000 mg calcium citrate, iron (total of 54-63 mg for menstruating women, 36 mg for everyone else) and B12 (350-500 mcg sublingual, or nasal spray, or shots).
