OT - Come...live vicariously through me...

(And yes...inevitably someone will criticize me but in the mood I am in right now I don't much care)

So many of you miss food and sometimes wish you could eat more (but are also glad you cannot).

Live vicariously through me. I have the Wonder Pouch. I CAN eat a lot. Most of the time I choose NOT to eat as much as I CAN.

But yesterday I chose to eat as much as I am capable of eating. It was a conscious choice. I worked otu like a demon that morning, went reasonable with the rest of my day's calories and went out to dinner with a friend where...sigh...well let me just tell you.

We went to PF Chang's which is one of my favorite restaurants. We split an order of chicken lettuce wraps and I had two of those (they bring you four pieces of lettuce so it's easy to split it evenly).

She ended up getting something called the Thai Chicken Noodle salad (chicken, skinny little noodles, peanuts, lemongrass, peanut sauce and...a whole bunch of other stuff that isn't coming to mind right now). I got my usual, Dali chicken (THE spiciest dish on the menu. It has chicken, hottie-hot peppers, Thai basil and potato slivers...YUM!). We both shared our dishes and there was only a little bit of the Thai salad left to wrap (it was huge!).

Then we got to dessert. I wanted dessert and she did too so we got these banana spring rolls. O. Em. GEE! There were six pieces of sliced banana in spring roll wrappers and fried with a big scoop of coconut pineapple ice cream with creme and caramel for drizzling.

Two hours later, I walked out of that place very satisfied. I'd eaten well, I'd laughed, I people watched.

Today it's back to my "normal" sized meals but at 4.5 years out it's nice to know I can plan and execute a splurge.

So feel free to live vicariously through me. You get all the nummyness with none of the residual scale effects ;)

What, a splurge without chocolate???? Just doesn't do it for me. And I hate coconut. LOL But sounds like a wonderful evening. Glad you enjoyed it.

I tried to talk my friend into splitting the "Great Wall of Chocolate" with me and she made a valid point. You can get chocolate cake anywhere. You can only get THIS here.

So I went with that logic.

I love coconut though.

I like chocolate but I don't LOVE chocolate anything if that makes sense.. Pudding, ice cream, cake, of pretty much anything anywhere there's a chocolate or vanilla or other option and I will go the other option almost every single time. I'm a freak I know

Be happy.

Unfortunately, I'm a chocolaholic.  I should go to rehab.  It's probably my biggest downfall and one of the reasons I'm fighting a gain.  For the first four-six months after my rny surgery, chocolate made me sick to my stomach.  Even the smell.  I felt sad, but glad that maybe my chocolate addiction was over.  Well, never say never, it came back and I was able to control it.  But now peri-menopause is starting hit hard and I find myself needing it like a drug fix if that makes sense.

For my birthday yesterday, my friend went into this great bakery to order me a cake and they asked what he wanted and he said "death by chocolate". OMG, this cake was to die for.

WoooooooooooW! Talk about FOOD PORN! ROFL! I feel like I need a cigarette after reading that (and I don't smoke!) I am only 14 months out so I am still pretty restricted (and I hope that never changes... but I know I am being unrealistic here.)

I do plan splurges from time to time. I had a Blizzard Wednesday night and it damn near killed me - but I am sure I will do it again sometime cuz, well, it was yummy while I was eating it... 15 minutes later... not so much. I love baked goods - so when I am going to get it on with my food, that is usually what I do. I save my carbs for that.

PS - I have had those banana spring rolls pre-surgery... and you are so right! OMG!!

Oh....... I know all about those banana rolls. I work with a couple of Filipino girls that made them for a potluck last year before my surgery. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! I was apprehensive at first but damn. Yeah good stuff. I love PF Changs. The lettuce wraps are my absolute favorite.

I was right there with you until dessert and then I had visions of me dumping and everyone thinking they should call an ambulance LOL!!!!

A splurge now and then does us good - as long as we get back on plan the next day - which you obviously have ...

It's been a week of divorce court (mon/tues/weds) so lots of stress and craving crap (managed to resist for the most part) plus my son's 9th birthday Wednesday and no, I didn't eat one sliver of cake - it's just not my thing - but I did eat 2 slices of cheese pizza!!!

Chinese food with the family tonight and then back to normal until MY birthday next wednesday - woo hoo!!!!
