My PCP prescribed a short term of Celebrex along with Nexium to try to get the swelling down in my knee. He wants to get some of the swelling down before he even gives me a steroid injection it it because it is so swollen that he is afraid he wont get the injection where he wants it.

I have to do something about the knee because it is extremely hard to bend it and that affects my gait which, in turn, is making my back hurt (and I already have enough back strain wih trying to overcome the weight of my chest.  So I know the anti-inflammatory is necessary, but I am still nervous about taking it.  He gave me 15 days worth but said I could stop as soon as the swelling goes down enough to do the injection.

Just nervous and keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm glad that you're taking Nexium with the Celebrex. I was taking Celebrex for a long time for my wrist arthritis and it started to really hurt my stomach. I'm now taking mobic, and so far so good. I hope it works for you!

Nexium is so expensive, my insurance was so nice (sarcasm) to pay for the first month then i got a wonderful letter saying if i refill they will not pay
My copay was 94$ luckily purplepill.com they have a coupon that gives up to 50$ off a month for a year.
Doctor changed me to a different script.

Nexium is very expensive.  I work at a saftey net hospital and we'd prescribe it to people without insurance.  I finially got it into the doctors heads (we're also a teaching hospital) that the cost was too expensive for most patients.  Eventually we switched over to prilosec.

Yes, my doc warned me it was expensive.  Fortunately, my doc had some Nexium samples (of course, the first ones he tried to give me were extended release, so I had to remind him about the XR/CR issue).  Hopefully those will be enough because I have no idea what my co-pay is for it.

Just wishing you good luck and hoping this eases your pain. I can empathize, while my knee is better the stiffness really does affect your gait and Lord knows I hate stairs with my knee the way it is!

I use same combination when my spine acts up. I've had not problems. I usually take Nexium about 1/2 hour before the Celebrex. Also, Carafate suspension can give some really good stomach coating if the Nexium isn't enough.
