So what foods are absolutely not allowed in your "orbit"?

In intervals it's peanut butter (but I keep going back!).

Otherwise,

-Potato chips, pretzels, pita chips, tortilla chips...are you sensing a pattern here????

Conversely I can be around sweets infinitely and not be bothered at all.

I'm right there with you Nik, peanut butter has been really hard for me to give up.  I find myself going back frequently, I'm in the grips of an pb addiction!  Sweets don't bother me at all, but I have to leave the room if there are any starchy carbs around.  Gravy and anything was a big comfort food for me and to this day it drives me a bit batty when I have it around....

Cake. I can't have cake in the house.

You said it, Nik: chips et al are purely the devil for me. I cannot keep Cheeze Its especially because the little suckers call to me: a siren song of carbyness, if you will.

We keep ice cream in the house at DH's request, and it doesn't faze me.

The only things I cannot/will not eat are onion rings (because they make me feel like I am dying, and then I vomit with a painful intensity) and citrus fruit other than mandarin oranges (the membrane around the segments gives me cramping and gas from hell).

There are lots of things I will eat very occasionally but not have in the house.  Cookies top the list.  No cookies in my house except RF Nilla Wafers (which are sort of pretend cookies).  My momlives two streets over and she keeps my Girl Scout cookies in her freezer so I can have one or two when I am there.  I also don't buy chips of any kind for the house (but occasionally buy pretzels).

Cold cereal (except for the corn flakes I keep around for breading meat). It was what I binged on like crazy as a teenager. Ugh, so many memories of soothing my emotional wounds with buckets of cereal.

Omg. Pre-op, it was definitely not unheard of for me to dump a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch into a mixing bowl and go to town. Cereal, especially sugary cereal, was one of my very favorite things.

(I originally tyed "half a box" and then deleted the 'half' because...come on, who am I kidding?)

 Sugar.  Period.  None.

Starchy carbs - pastas, cereals, breads.  Although occasionally I have an asteroid break through the orbit and send me spinning wildly out of control.  Not so often anymore, not since I've put my foot down and started kicking my own ass.

NSA oatmeal raisin cookies - banned.  I stare longingly at them every grocery shopping trip, but at 120 cals a cookie combined with the fact that I will have eaten 3 of them before even getting home... yeah, banned.  BANNED.
