They are informative and you will meet folks off the boards. Gives you a chance to put a voice and body to post that you see. Lots of vendors, some bariatric related and some hawking what I'll call "trinkets". Some advance people for the plastic surgeons are there too. Bring your significant other since the ratio is 250+ women to each guy!

I went to the one here in Houston in 2010. I had fun. It was informative and I enjoyed meeting people in-real-life. What I found fascinating was all the "cliques". Kind of reminded me of high school. But the nice people more than made up for the snobs (just my not-so-humble opinion).
