OT - This was the best weekend EVER

I tell you this has been a funny summer. I think the lesson of this summer is that you don't need to have lots of money to have a fabulous life.

This was one of the best weekends ever. My girls came home from their father's for the weekend, mybrother came into town and, much to my surprise and pleasure, he has grown up a LOT. Becoming a dad has been good for him. He gushed over pictures of his 4 month-old daughter and 5 year old stepson and talked about them nearly constantly. I didn't mind a bit.

Friday night, we invited some extended family over for a Scrabble tournament. I am a fierce Scrabble competitor (and no...I do NOT play Words with Friends...I believe in old skool, face-to-face Scrabble with a board, a dictionary and serious smack talk). We ordered pizza, had a little wine. It was a positively...normal evening.

Saturday it rained all day so I went to the farmer's market to get my produce and hauled tail back inside. Since my brother was leaving super early Sunday I decided Sunday dinner would be a day early and I spent the entire day cooking, watching movies with my daughter. Then we had a lovely dinner around the dinner table and I went to bed that night with a full pouch and a full heart. There's just something deeply gratifying about having all your family under one roof. It's like the world is a better place.

This morning my brother headed back to Indiana and me and the girls went to church. My oldest had acolyte duty (think altar boy...except you don't have to be a boy) which she was none too pleased about but sucked it up. She even got to take part in a double baptism. After that we did some shopping, came home, I did some blog work for Bariatric Foodie. We went visiting in the evening and then I came home and cooked my girls yet another fabulous dinner (I heart feeding people I love).

They are going home to their father tomorrow and then life will go back to the way it was (sigh...I really don't like them being away but this is the reality I chose when I chose to become a single mom).

But what a fantastic weekend! How was yours?

I am not having fabulous weekends yet. I am having moments of fab. Highlights were watching the boy wonder win his swimming matches, being able to be in a crowd, and trips to the dog park.
I did spend a lot of time sleeping. That's where the grief doesn't touch me. The little dog burrows underneath the covers and sleeps all day with me.
I cooked one meal this weekend. That is an improvement.
My weight is up overall but steady.

I'm glad you had such a good one. And yes..money don't mean all that.

I had a wonderful weekend too.  Hubs worked on Saturday morning to do a little catch-up at the office and me and the kid cleaned his closet and organzied his room. Getting ready for school!   We have to do this every 6 months or so because he's such a pack-rat!  I feel sorry for his future wife....lol

I cleaned the house a little and then when he got home from work we cleaned out our cars...the heat was making the dashboards sooo dry.  So, I armour all'd them and he bought me new car mats since I really needed new ones.  I tried to push mow the smallest part of front yard but it was a little too thick for our mower and I had to baby it..

Sunday, we got up and went to church and it was sooo Awesome....it just made us feel so good.  Why we are hit and miss at church is beyond me...it helps us both spiritually so much!  Then we went to my Mom's and swam most of the day.  My sister brought my husband's favorite for lunch...kentucky fried chicken and I had Nik's Taco Casserole....I didn't feel deprieved at all!

At the end of the day I felt like i may have gone overboard but I got home and put it all into myfitnesspal and it was within range.....felt better about that.    Plus I didn't count all the exercise I hope I got swimming...though it really doesn't feel like exercise.

Hoping for a really good week for all of us!!
