I am currently 7.5 months out and nervous that I may never make it to my goal. My weight loss for the past 3-4 months has been so slow it is crazy. Like 10lbs since May 1st slow. I am eating what I should and have been getting all of my protein from foods recently. I usually get anywhere between 60-90 grams a day. Since surgery I have been walking twice a day on my breaks. I just started Jazzercise last week in hopes to boost my weight loss as well.

Vets - what else can I do to get things moving again? You guys always seem to have the answers I am looking for :-)

Thanks!

Are you sure you are getting enough calories each day?  Sometimes increasing your intake a bit (add some fruit) will jump start things.  Especially if you are increasing your activity.

The closer you get to goal, the less you will lose....so keep working the tool and you will be fine.

Some days I do get enough calories and some days I don't. Most of the time I am between 800-1000 but sometimes I am under 800.

I was thinking that it might have slowed down so dramatically because I have less to lose now. I really hope that adding the activity will get things going. I am assuming it will take a few weeks to see a change.

Increasing your exercise is a good thing.

What does a typical day look like for you food/meal wise?

If you are getting only around 800 calories most days, you probably do need to increase your calorie intake a bit, and adding some type of additional exercise (even if it just walking in the evening) can help.  Many people experience a alow down at about 6 months out.  You are, right, however, that loss slows down as you have less and less to lose becasue your daily caloric deficit is much lower as you get close to goal.  My weight loss slowed to only about 2 pounds per week at 6 months out (even though, at that point, I still had 85 pounds to lose!) and then slowed to about 3 pounds per month at 12 months out.  The last 25 pounds took forever to come off... but I kept doing what I knew I needed to be doing (although my exercise is limited) and eventually the weight did come off.

Hang in there, and just keep doing what you kmow you need to do.  Remember, you are in this for the long run.  It is not as if once you get to goal you can celebrate, let out a big sigh of relief, and then change what you have been doing.  You have to KEEP doing it to keep from regaining.

Thank you. I do know this is forever and I accept that (and am very nervous for maintenance). I guess I just hope to actually make it to goal because at my goal of 140 I would barely be 24.9 BMI and then to account for bounce back I would become overweight again. I plan on walking on the nights that I don't go to Jazzercise since I will only be going 2-3 nights a week. I do hope that the increase in activity will boost the loss. Before a couple weeks ago I was only walking about 2 miles per week day so I have not been super active.

You still have a lot of time to continue to lose.  I did not look to see if you have weight stats posted, but many people continue losing, albeit slowly, for 2 years.  I did not reach my goal weight until 20 months out, but I honestly think that having it take longer helped me accept at more than just an intellectual level... at a behavioral and emotional level... that all I was doing is just what I will be doing for the rest of my life.

Please don't let worry about meeting your goal when you are

My best advice is always get at least 100 grams of protein a day and at least 100 oz of fluid a day.  You will need to supplement.  I long gave up the idea of getting all my protein from food.  I am just about 2 years out and have no plans of giving up my shakes for the foreseeable future.  I know they aren't the greatest.  Get over it.  Think of it like medicine.  At least one or two a day.  No carbs that aren't from vegetables or dairy until you reach the weight you want if that is important to you.
I may be stoned for saying this but I never counted any exercise I did as far as calories burned, perhaps because my exercise has never been consistent and it never affected my weight loss or maintenance.  Those things on Myfitnesspal.com and others seem to lie when they say you burn X amount of calories doing X amount of exercise a day, at least it did for me for I never saw a difference.  I'm not saying not to exercise, I'm just saying to do it because you want to and because it is good for you and it makes you feel good, not necessarily for weight loss because it doesn't seem to make the difference it claims it will.  Don't count on it alone.  My experience is that what you eat makes much more of a difference then exercise does.  All the exercise in the world won't make up for bad eating habits.  I have friends that exercise like fiends yet are obese because they think because they spend hours at the gym they can spend hours at McDonald's, too.
Getting to goal is doable but not without work and some changes.  Some people are happy with how they are eating and don't care to make the changes necessary to weigh less and that is perfectly fine, they are happy where they are at, look good, feel good and have reached their goal of health.  There is nothing wrong with being above a 25 BMI.  It's a matter of personal choice.  Some people look terrible with a BMI of 25 or less, their bodies just aren't made that way, or they are miserable eating the amount or types of food to be there.  It isn't a crime and if that is where you are at then let yourself be there.  You may find yourself in a different place further down the road.  We never know where this journey will take us next.

Yes, I am three years out and I still drink 2-3 Syntrax Nectars a day to get in all of the protein I need.
