I am going shopping for my liquid pre diet, high protein etc.  I need know if the big jugs of whey protein at walmart are ok. I know about crystal light and yogart but I am very unclear about the protein shakes, and where to find the flavorless protein powder you can add to anything like brooth, and is milk ok to drink pre op and post op for the liquid diet, to make the shakes or do i have to use water. the info the dr gave me was very unclear about protein shakes.

Ya, they are fine. I think they taste good. I would just buy one to try it out first. I mix mine up with milk and I'm good to go.

Just make sure that you read the labels of the protein that you purchase.  I use the Pure Protein Powder (25g protein / 2g sugar/ 3g carbs), from Walmart.  It might be a good idea to get some sample sizes from the health food stores like GNC or Vitamin Shop to find out which brands you will like.  Your can also order samples from the many sites listed on these boards.  GNC will let you return them if you don't like them.  Don't purchase a whole lot of stuff as your taste buds may change after surgery.  I know mine did.  I used lactose free milk after surgery and experienced no problem.  You should get with your nut to get some clarity.
