No more leftovers for me!

Tonight instead of cooking something for myself, the hubby and kids had already ate. I decided I would heat up a portion of the left over poor boy I had for lunch (minus the bread of course). It was soooooo good at lunch fresh from the grill all garlicy (garlic seems to make the meat sit better). I chewed chewed chewed just like at lunch and ate slowly as I've learned and next thing I know BAM foamies and then I was in the bathroom throwing up. This is the first time I've thrown up and let me tell you I hope I NEVER EVER do that again. At one point I had sharp pains across the chest from shoulder to shoulder while heaving (TMI I know) My hubby I think had more tears in his eyes than I did he was so worried about me.

If this was the first time I felt sick after eating left overs I'd maybe try them again but the last time I reheated some chicken thigh which has always set well with me I got the foamies and hurt for about a half hour. One other time I reheated some beef it felt the same way.

Not sure if this is normal and we've been sitting here trying to figure out how 4-5 hours later it could change how it sat other than maybe microwaving it dried it out?

Anyone else have issues with left overs?

On the good note I measured my waist this morning and I am down 7 inches! and I fit in a pair of one size smaller pants I bought for a couple of weeks down the line! One month check up tomorrow!

I can't eat any meat from the microwave without using fat free dressings or gravy.  My NUT said it was because it gets dried out.  I've thrown up three times since my surgery definately not fun.

Was this po boy with shrimp? I tried to eat left over broiled shrimp last week and no way. It was cold. Not sure if it was from my stricture or because the shrimp ecame tough.

We keep learning our lessons! Rock on my friend!

I actually do better with cold leftovers for some reason (and I totally prefer them that way), but if I reheat I wet a paper towel and toss it over the meat while heating.  It keeps everything moist.

What a good tip! I never thought to wet a paper towel to keep moister! Thanks

I can eat something cold, if within 12 hours of when it was fresh. Beyond that, it's just not going to happen. I get sick every time.

I have never gotten sick off of leftovers, but I rarely reheat beef of any kind in the microwave (I don't like the flavor it gets) and I always make sure that whatever kind of protein I am reheating stays moist and does not get overcooked since any protein reheated in a microwave can become tough or chewy if reheated too long.  That just makes it difficult to chew, though.  Once it is chewed to mush, I am not sure why the pouch would care that it was reheated. (I'm not questioning that yours does (others have said the same thing in the past), just stating that I don't understand why it would be that way.)

I also find, though, that throwing up after RNY is far less unpleasant than it was pre-op.  There is little to none of the nasty acid that there used to be, it takes less effort to throw up (because it has less distance to travel, I guess?), and I have never had any kind of pain when throwing up.   I can count on both hands, however, the number of times I have thrown up in the last 5 years even if you include when I had a "bug" and when I threw up some barium.

Yup! Same thing happens to me.
I NEVER reheat meat(like chicken, pork chops, or steak). I can eat them leftover, but I eat them cold.
I can re-heat like a pot-roast, or something that's in a gravy...but if not, it gets eaten cold.
Too many attempts to try to reheat and eat...I just don't try anymore. I'm okay with it. I love a cold pork chop!

I also have found I cant eat reheated meat of any kind it just does not sit well. Hurts my pouch big time. It has to either be freshly cooked or some of it is okay cold. Hamburger is a big no for me unless its freshly cooked. Poultry seems to dry out and just hurts going down even. I think its the moistness level.
