What are you eating/dong today? Friday!

I burned 78 calories, 78 FREAKIN CALORIES, in my HOT POWER yoga class last night.  I burn that many sitting on the couch for an hour.  I was sweaty, so you assume you are burning, but no.  It was not our usual instructor, it was a sub, the instructor that is the most laid back, relaxed, never gets started on time.  Her hour workouts usually start 15 minutes after and she gives a full 15 minute savasana - they end up being a half hour workout.  I was quite unhappy.  There's a reason I don't go to those classes - they don't challenge me enough.  *sigh*

Eats were good yesterday.  Just under 1400 calories with a 1800 calorie burn (ugh, again, stupid 78 calorie power yoga!).

Eats for today:

20 oz water on the way to work.
B - Fage, unsweetened pineapple, splenda
s - decaf, creamer, splenda
L - chicken salad with cucumber crackers, cheese stick.  An apple if I need it.
s - 1 1/2 scoop mint cookie protein drink made with water. An apple.
D - I have some ground beef thawed out (baby steps!) but no idea what I'm doing with it.
s - maybe a nsa fudge bar, depending on when dinner falls.

Today's dos:
I'm leaving work a little early today, I only have 6 hours to put in before I hit my 40.  That means I'll miss a meeting, bummer.  :)

I'll probably skip the gym and go shopping/browsing.  I bought Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 yesterday.  It sounded just like the 30 min Shred, but there were 4 workouts instead of 3 and it was 2011 instead of 2007.  I'll try that tonight with my daughter perhaps.

I never understood the benefit of yoga to be calorie burn, but building strength and flexibility, all things that will help your muscles act the way you want them to when you do things that WILL get you the superburn. But I can see how that is. Yoga is mostly slow, intentional movements. Doesn't take many calories to do that. Just like weight lifting doesn't burn a big amount of calories BUT the muscle you build burns at a higher rate than the fat it replaced.

The yoga classes I gravitate to are not slow controlled movement classes though.  They are fast paced, power, sweat, cardio, inversion classes.  My saturday morning class burns around 180-200 calories.  My usual Thursday class burns around 150.  So last night's pitiful 78 was very frustrating to me.  It is what it is though, I still came in with a fairly decent deficit at the end of the day.

I guess it all boils down to I go in expecting one experience and am bummed out when I get another.  Especially when I plan my schedule to fit in the types of classes I enjoy.  Just venting I think.  I'll obviously live.

Mega TGIF! It's going to be 105 here today and 108 tomorrow - that's actual temp, not heat index. Gotta love it.

Got up earlier and shortened my workout to make it to the podiatrist this morning (painful plantar's wart is baaaaack)for an 815 appt and I don't even see him until 9!!!!

Eats:
- almond milk, one scoop of Click and half a cup of pumpkin blended up
- leftover broccoli, mandarin oranges, and shelled edamame with a drizzle of soy sauce and oj over it
- Greek yogurt w/spicy Hidden Valley mix and baby carrots
- just had an unplanned protein bar
- no clue on anything else

Meow.

WTG on sticking the challenge out - I'm sure it's been a very humbling experience.

Be happy.

it's supposed to be super hot here and since i walk most places, that means stay inside (at least for the most part). i want to clean a little bit and maybe do some laundry (maybe just bring that to my parents since its free but that means taking the big suitcase). packing... i think that's it. i went and got kitty litter and food yesterday so i wouldn't have to carry that home in the heat. i have to catch an early train to long island to help my aunt prep for my cousin's graduation party so i want to get everything done tonight.

b - waffle with sf syrup
l - no clue. maybe a caprese salad with balsamic vinegarette
s - work on finishing up my grapes
d - no clue. my fridge should be pretty empty (at least of the things that will turn in a week) by then.
s - some more grapes or an orange.

maybe throw a shake in there since it seems my protein will be pretty light, and it will help get rid of my milk

After seeing Nik's post about the unwich I went to Jimmy John's website and built one. I changed out the roast beef to ham and turkey and took off the mayo and added mustard, bringing the fat and calorie count way down.

The original one they have listed on the nut info has beef and mayo. It has 470 cals, 35g fat, 37.47g protein. If you make the changes I did, it has 243 cal, 11g fat, 30.6g protein.

I will say the sodium is high no matter how you build it. But, like Nik said, you should divide into fourths and space it out...

Here is the link to build it:
