FRIIIIIIIDAY! Whatcha eating/doing today?

I am getting the HELL out of Baltimore! (Incidentally, the heat wave is supposed to break today anyway but still).

Me and the divas are going on a mini-cation to Harper's Ferry this weekend. It's money I really should NOT be spending but I figure a mental breakdown is more expensive and, for all intents and purposes, I've not been on a real vacation in about...8 years. So I'll take being broke as hell for two weeks to have this little one!

Other than that today is work. Here's my (rough) plan:

1. Click Frappe in a moment
2. I'm going out somewhere to lunch. Not sure where. There's this cafe down the street that has awesome chili so I might go there.
3. Probably some Hot Click in the afternoon or a protein coffee
4. I'll probably have a snack on the way up to Harper's Ferry
5. Not sure about where we'll have dinner.

Happy Friday everyone!

Is that your way of saying you're in a food rut?

What do you like? What do you hate?

Pretty much so. But I was like that before surgery too. Even now, I can't make up my mind when it comes to food, and my DH is not much help. Breakfast is definitely a problem, I can't find enough variety. I like beef, spicy things, italian flavorings, chicken...in fact I like most foods and will try anything. I can't say that I dislike much but there are some things that my pouch doesn't like. Picky pouch doesn't like tuna, dry hamburger, pork, sweet protein drinks and lately most protein supplements. About the only one that doesn't give me problems is Unjury Chicken Soup. I've been to your website, most everything looks yummy, I just can't decide! Nik, your recipes rock!

Have a great mini-cation, Nik!

This weekend I'll be gearing up for our "Great Family Roadtrip".... time to pack & get prepared.  We leave next Friday for an 11 day road trip to Iowa and South Dakota.  I'm hoping it's fun & educational.  However, I have pondered the purchase of hand cuffs & duck tape for yung-uns.  Hopefully, they will get along and I won't be picked up for strapping one of the little darlings to the top of the mini van.  I have ordered a "donut" pillow for my tush to make the trip a little nicer.

Actually, I'm excited to see how the trip goes..... and hopefully, it is about the journey as well as the destination.

Today's eats:

B - powercrunch
L - phony balony & cheese on whole wheat
S - apple
D - either boca burgers or not dogs and watermelon.  I'm in a picnic mood.

Happy Friday!

When I had my mini-van I totally woulda done a road trip.

With the Camry? Not so much. There would be murder involved. Good luck to you!

Have fun on your vaca. I can relate. We just got back from the beach. I really had no money for a trip, either, but I needed to get away to recharge my batteries. Medical bills can wait.

Today I'm doing my usual. 1700-2000 calories, 100 grams protein, less than 150 carbs. It feels good to be back in my routine after vacation.

We're enjoying our summer break. The girls have a birthday party today and then I have to babysit my niece/nephews. Life is good!!

Did you do ok with your vacay eating?

I feel out of sorts cuz I haven't been able to get to the farmer's market for the past two weeks! Thankfully I bought a ginormous zucchini and yellow squash which has lasted me a good little while (this eating for one budget is nice).

Next week starts my "live below the line" challenge (eating for 5 days @ $1.50 for food per day to remember the world's poorest who have less than that to spend) so veggies next week are probably not an option. Sigh.

Glad you enjoyed the beach! I will enjoy my little getaway then HOPEFULLY come back and get back to the business of straightening out my life.

I actually did pretty well eating wise. I ate healthy for 2 meals of the day, but then whatever I wanted for dinner. I snacked a bit more than usual, but they were healthy snacks- mostly fruit and string cheese (we had a condo with a kitchen). I am proud of myself for not going "crazy" like I would have done in the past. Almost 4 years out and I am beginning to feel somewhat "normal". Wow. What a concept!!

I don't think I could do the "live below the line" challenge. Good for you. I'd love to hear what you come up with for your menu next week.

I hope you have a fantastic mini vacation.  Where is Harper's Ferry?  We are still learning our way around.

I am stuck in bed for the most part until after my Dr.'s appointment on Monday but the swelling on my back is down from the size of a large shoebox to about the size of a softball so I am getting better....my lower back is turning very purple.

Breakfast:
Matrix bananana protein shake with PB 2, freeze dried espresso and a dash of toasted mashmallow sugar free syrup - I just ordered Matrix creamsicle so I will have to see what I can make with that one...any ideas?

Lunch:
leftover sauteed squash, bok choy, green beans and onions with a sprinkle of parmasean

Snack:
sugar free latte and maybe some Extend drizzle protein snacks later

Dinner:
Thinking about making enchilada casserole with the leftover chipolte pork tenderloin

Have a great, fun, relaxing weekend.

Lisa
