PLEASE stop telling people that open surgery is only for rare, special cases!

IMO, you should stop referring to that "taking bites of stuff" as "naughty". Count it as bad choices, that could turn in to very harmful choices. If you're pushing limits now, imagine what you'll be doing a year from now. Gaining weight again. Get that "biting" under control, sister.

First of all.
IF i was taking bites of Cream puffs or snack foods that are BAD for me MAYBE. (i dont like sweets so No.)
anything "naughty" iv taken bites of were all healthy foods just to soon. like fish. and raw veggies so it was naughty of me to do it. wasnt a bad choice of food. im sorry but you Dont know me so dont assume im taking bites of Junk.

i did however try a ONE bite of a french fry AFTER i ate my protein (chicken) LIKE WERE SUPPOSED TO and Still had room.and since im allowed potatoe i didnt think it would hurt. i threw up because of it....and I learned from it.  My point is unless i was posting "help i am eating Fattening, unhealthy carb enriched foods" you shouldn't assume the things i was "trying" were bad other then did it to soon.

Sorry. i guess i assumed that "naughty" meant "bad". Just trying to help.

and, i guess i didn't say it well, but i don't like the word "naughty", we've spent our whole lives thinking we're "Bad" because of what we eat. If we call it "choices", then we're taking more responsibility for our actions.

Again, sorry for trying to help.

Oh, I definitely uinderstand that... and as Kelly already said, that is no reflection on you.  That was part of the point of my post in the first place... I just wanted to be sure that people understand that there are many surgeons who routinely do open surgeries for various reasons so that they will not unnecessarily scare someone else by making them think that there is something wrong with the surgeon they have chosen just because they will be having open surgery.  Many people, like you, just DON'T know that initially.

Revision on 05/17/12
My doctor does them open...that is the only choice.  That's his preference OPEN...not LAP.  He likes to see what all is going on inside.  I have an incision from just below my sternum to my navel it hurts no lie but I feel safe knowing  that my insides are OK.

Nearly everything we all post on here is an unqualified opinion brought about by our personal cir****tances and with little to no knowledge of that person's medical history.

I gave my opinion on one post as to why I chose my particular surgeon and it's a valid one. That decision may well have been different if my cir****tances were different (if I were SMO, previous surgeries, revision etc).

However, having had a medical background, I strongly believe that all our decisions SHOULD BE a collaboration between ourselves and our surgeons. A surgeon who "only" does open RNY would make me question why ... and I cringe every time I read that someone just "trusts" their surgeon without questions - holy crap, I've seen way too many quacks with an MD behind their name to do that!!!
