I know a lot of people that have used them to lose weight, but more often than not they regained when the injections stopped.  Those that kept it off, and this is shocking I know, did so because they were able to adopt good eating and exercise habits during this time frame.  The ones that didn't are the ones that regained their weight.

Paul ive read many of your posts and Think your doing a great job... but understand not everyone has same willpower there are many people that regain weight even after the surgery, its an addiction, some use food to cope with loss others have only food to keep them company... not everyone here runs or bikes alot or excercises daily many think the surgery is magic and will make them thin forever... its the job of those like yourself to educate and support not make sarcastic comments. Lets educate and help those that really need support

I understand what you are saying about people not having the will power and that some believe that this is a magic bullet to take their fatness away forever.  I like to think that more times than not I do try to show people that adopting a healthy and fit lifestyle is the way to ensure success, but I totally understand that people have to overcome their demons and bad habits to make this happen.  Hell I have a difficult time at doing this myself and feel more times than I can count that I am failing in someway.

As for the sarcasm well for me that is one way I make or reinforce what seems to be a very obvious point.  I don't believe that everyone needs to run or bike or spend hours in a gym to be healthy and fit.  We have some very successful people here that Walk, Hike have home weight programs they have implemented or even ZUMBA (yeah still can't figure that one out).  The key is these people Know that success is a balance and requires changes to what was previously their lifestyle and have embraced these changes however difficult they maybe.

As I said my sarcasm and wit is just one way I go about making a point.  Some people get it and some don't but it is all good.

You mean plain old walking counts as exercise?!? {sarcasm off}  There is part of me that would love to be able to do the kind of physical activity that you do (although I didn't like running, even as a kid, LOL), but my knees apparently didn't get the memo.  I love the example that you are setting for people about what is possible, but I also appreciate that you truly support people in doing whatever kind of activity they can.  For people like me, that means "just" walking and some time on a recumbent bike.  Yet here I am, almost 5 years out, and maintaining my weight at about 7 pounds over my lowest weight (and 5 of those pounds popped back on within just a couple of weeks of hitting my lowest weight)! .

I think that is weird too !! just another money maker. I did the shots back in the late 70's ( yes I'm f'ing old)
I see the drops on the shelf at wal-mart you are to follow up with a 500 calorie diet, um yea sure , even bypassers would have a hard time with that.
You should ask your doc what benifit it would have for bypassers, I sure we all would be interested

Ka-Ching!!!

He's looking to his bottom line and NOT to the health and welfare of his patients. I agree with Paul that it would be better if he encouraged/educated his patients to live a healthy lifestyle after WLS and not resort to the urine of pregnant mammals to maintain their weightloss!!!

If someone hasn't learned by the end of their weight loss period what is required to live with this surgery, shots of HCG are not going to help them in anything other than the short term. Maybe their lighter wallets will help them feel better about themselves when they step on the scale?
