How long before you went back to work?

I have a very demanding job and I'm trying to figure out how long I will need to be out of the office... how long before you went back to work?  did you work from home at first then go back full time?   how long should I plan for assuming no complications...

Most people seem to take two to four weeks, depending on the type of work they do and how their recovery goes.

I ended up having complications and I was off about three months.  And I work from home.

I had my surgery last Wednesday and am going back this Wednesday.  I work from home, so that is the ONLY reason why I am going back so quickly.  I wish now I would have taken an extra week, just because the I'm so tired.  I think it just depends on the person.  Good Luck to you!!!

I was back in my office the day after I got out of the hospital - surgery on Tuesday; discharge on Thursday; office on Friday.  However, I'm the boss, so I was only there a few hours.  The following week I was there every day 4-6 hours a day.  By the second week, I was pretty much back full-time, except I would take a nap during lunch.

I went back 2 weeks out (3 weeks out today) and by Thursday I was so tired which in turn also made my neasua worse. I work at a desk but at a super busy hospital. I ended up calling out sick the last 2 days of work. I suggest 3 full weeks and i had no complications. I'm doing much better today.

You may wish to consider 4 weeks if you have a demanding job. One of the reasons I selected 4 weeks is so I could get close to the soft foods stage before returning and focus on a good exercise plan. Your docs office will help you decide, especially if you are completing FMLA paperwork.

I was off two weeks which was plenty. I work part time in an emotionally/intellectually (but not physically) challenging job.

I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow, and went back to work yesterday. However, I have a brutal commute, so my Doc wants me to do mass transit instead of driving. To make a long story short, yesterday was a commuting disaster, and it wore me out! Needless to say, I'm working from home today.
