yum yum, peach protein shake

I got some sugar free syrups and protein powders delivered this morning so decided to have a peach protein shake for lunch.  Raw milk, Syntrax Nectar vanilla bean protein powder and some da vinci sugar free peach syrup.  And Upcal D and Miralax, but those would be optional.  This is delicious.

And I am making some yogurt right now, and I think I'm going to do peach yogurt.  Greek yogurt with sugar free peach syrup and some diced peaches in it.  Yum.

Yes.  I love peach and bought some fresh peaches to throw in my protein drinks.  Being able to now be on a regular food program has made a world of difference, especially since the added fresh fruit have made it for me to get all my protein shakes in, which was impossible before.  I admire that you make your own yogurt.  I bet its totally different that the store bought ones.    Jane

I'm not sure if my homemade yogurt is really that different from store bought yogurt or not, in terms of taste.  I think it tastes better but that might just be in my head.  But it is very different from store bought yogurt in that it is made from organic raw milk and has no growth hormones or antibiotics in it.

And it's easy to make.  I used to think it was strange that some people made stuff that you could easily buy at the store for not very much money, but I get a kick out of making some of my own stuff now.

Thank you! I have four, count 'em FOUR bottles of peach syrup (Shari brought me a small windfall of syrups for Christmas). So it will be peach tea and peach everything. But I think I'm going to give a few bottles away just the same. She also brought me a few big bottles of lime and a few other flavors.

How does the lime flavor taste?  I was wanting to do a key lime pie kind of thing with Greek yogurt.  But I wasn't sure if the lime syrup would have the right flavor.  I found a powdered drink mix, like Crystal LIght but I think it was a different brand, that was cherry limeade but they didn't have plain limeade and I do not want cherry key lime pie.  So I've been trying to figure out what to use for the lime flavoring.

I haven't tried it yet. For all my protein shake experimenting I am truly a creature of habit! But I was thinking of doing a key lime greek yogurt type thing. Maybe I'll do that this weekend and report back. If it didn't cost as much to buy the bottle as to ship it I'd send you one!

You must have missed the vanilla Syntrax.  Cause I ordered it from Vitalady.

You can find some of the sugar free syrups at most grocery stores, in the coffee aisle.  But they usually only have a couple flavors.  They make lots and lots of flavors, though.  You can order them from vitalady or from netrition.com.  They are about 50 cents cheaper per bottle from vitalady but netrition has $5 flat rate shipping, so depending on how many you order, it might be cheaper to order from them and save on shipping.  But I like ordering from vitalady because I like Michelle (the owner) and like to support her.  And I order vitamins from her so I try to order a bunch of stuff from the same place at the same time when I can.

I'm jealous.  SF syrups are off the menu for me right now.  Too broke for anything other then the dollar store kind.
Kelly, do you heat your raw milk first?  My boyfriend brought me some to make yogurt with and I went to put some in my tea and he about had a stroke and told me never to drink raw milk without heating it first.  Yogurt is ok because I heat it to 180 degrees.  He got me scared to even make the yogurt but I did and it turned out fine but I didn't notice any difference from the yogurt I make with store bought milk and cost wise I found I'm not saving any money making my own, except of course with the milk that is given to me.  I find that half a gallon of milk only makes about 2 to 3 cups of Greek yogurt.  Maybe I am straining it too much?
