It might be. But isn't p28 still a pretty complex carb? Before workouts or excessive exertion are about the only time it's probably preferable to go with a simpler carb.

look at my pre workout meals!
Carbs are energy

Sounds kinda gross but pay attention to how you smell after you workout.  If it is ammonia you are burning protein.

Oh hell then I've been doing it right all along then!

Seriously though I admire folks who can still push themselves even if their bodies don't have ready energy to burn. That is hard core. Yesterday I did the same thing LJ did (unintentionally...I gulped a shake then a half hour later got an intense desire to hit the gym) and I struggled to do 2 miles. Ugh.

Bananas. They are the secret to happy running for me.

 My worst was
Protein Shake + Banana
43.5 miles in 2:45 on the bike with 350 calories consumed.  I had enough on me to take 350 calories an hour like I should have but I was always just ttying to get to the top of the next hill.  Took my last calories at the halfway point.  Ride was epic nutritionally total failure.

Actually the failure is that in a couple months I need to be able to get off the Bike after 56miles and bang out a decent Half Marathon.  This requires me to get the nutrition and hydration elements in line or race day we be an epic failure.

That's interesting.  I usually smell like last night's dinner so I'm doing something right.  Especially if it had onions in it!

Tell me more about this. Mainly, is that bad? I dont really plan food around running. Early am runs I dont eat til after, and I dont purposefully eat before an afternoon run, though today I had a Quest bar like an hour before running. I noticed a while ago that my sweat smells different...burning protein is the reason?

Definitely should eat before working out.. body needs fuel.  I used to do protein shake w/ half a banana before working out, but banana has decided to wreak havoc on me.  Thus my not being sure now about carbs and me wearing out.

I usually run at 5am, I dont think I can get up earlier to eat lol. I havent had any problems fatigue wise, though?
