I have a friend staying with me right now. HE is broke. He has no home to live in. He can't buy new clothes, even from Goodwill. So I thank God for him because he really does put things in perspective. But I'm glad I can come here and whine nonetheless :)

Ain't it the truth!

I used to have a bumper sticker that said, "I've done so much with so little for so long, now I can do anything with nothing". It's facetious, but sometimes that's what it used to feel like.

Drat the power bill! I want to spend money on stuff I want.

this girl! i just took a loan out from my parents. luckily they have money saved for my sister's wedding next year and i get my school loan money in august so it will be repayed then, but it still sucks. i had what seemed to be a promising interview yesterday (keep your fingers crossed and swing those chickens for me!). i figured out i only need to take home $800 or so a month to cover and make a dent into my bills and have some spending money (not including my rent which my school loan covers).

You know, I'm sick of it too.  I just don't get it.  The more money I make, the more broke I am.  We have no debt other than cars, student loans, and mortgage.  We don't have credit cards.  But we still live paycheck to paycheck robbing Peter to pay Paul.  It's ridiculous.

Maybe we need a Dave Ramsey challenge on here too.  I'd LOVE to get my finances under control and stop wondering what bill is not being paid yet...

A LOT of it has to do with having two teenagers, but even more of it is being unable to decipher between NEEDS and WANTS.  For me, cable and internet is a need... but is it really?  No...

Good news is... we just paid off my hubby's truck and my daughter's car.  But no break because my student loans come off deferment since I graduated (unless I go back for a Master's which is a whole NEW set of bills), and our insurance skyrocketed to ridiculous amounts of money since we now have full coverage on said daughter's car instead of liability only... her last car was a beater.

I really do try to keep it all in perspective.  When I was in my 20's I was homeless for about a year.  Even after I had a roof I would get the government food, go to the place that gives out the out of date milk and bread that's still good and go to soup kitchens.

So I know that I am no where near as bad off as I was then and I know that compared to many others I am leaps ahead.

All that being said...I'm tired of being broke!  I'm tired of picking which bills to pay this month.  Tired of worrying if I will have enough money to get through that 2nd week before I get paid.

I guess I am just getting too old for this.  I just wish I could have a few years with a little extra to go see some places before the family curse of Alzheimer's sets in and I don't know where I am anymore.

But I did wake up this morning so I am still one step ahead of the game!

HOLLA!

It seriously is never ending. My poor hubby works three jobs! I am hoping that Karma kicks in one day or that we will hit the numbers! Living paycheck to paycheck is getting old and I htought having a Mater's degree I would make more money- NOPE!

Nik, Your friend who's living with you... what size does he wear? My husband is also post op and while he has donated or given lots of his clothes to my brother and his, he may have things around the house he hasn't donated yet.

I'm not sure but I can tell you right now he's about a million feet tall. Seriously. At least 6'9 or something. His head almost reaches my ceiling. So I'm thinking unless your hubby is really tall he'd be too big!

Yes....he's about 6 feet tall.  Man- 6'9" that is TALL.  Think of all the shoe options a girl could have who dates him!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Let me know if there is anything he needs.  My bff is 6'8" and I'm sure he can spare some things.  He understands how finding clothes that fit can be.  And he's a super great guy who has an inoperable brain tumor but lives his life every single day.
