I am so tired of being broke.

I mean really? Did I do something to someone in a former life? I'm sorry! I take it back!

Yikes. I have money to get the girls summer clothes but other than that I am tapped OUT!

Don't get me wrong. We have everything we NEED. I just feel like I don't often get to buy anything I WANT.

That is probably whiny, especially considering I work for an organization that helps people in TRUE poverty. But dammit...I make good money. Why am I always so broke????

I feel the same way sometimes...  But for me, I live within my means but there is that savings account that drains every extra penny from my pocket book...

Especially since that savings account goes for things like my out of pocket expenses for medical...  Then of course I have a child that thinks money just mulitplies in my wallet... LOL

Definitely. I'm working OT right now but the house decided to throw siding off in the wind storm last month. Guess what - we had to reside the house. There goes any OT money for the next year.

What drives me crazy is that even when I'm not broke, my husband makes me think I am, because he isn't comfortable with the ebb and flow of revenue in my business.

Back in the day, I used to keep a spending diary to help me understand where my money went.  It's sometimes a shock to see how far away from your basic budget you go on a daily/weekly basis.  For example, I really underestimated the amount of gas I used.  We go over our food budget by $30-$50 a week.  Sometimes, I get the urge to buy flowers, and that's $10 that isn't in our budget at all.

Then there are the emergency things, like car repairs, and home repairs.  We have 4-5 necessary home repairs that we just have to do (and that's not counting the fact that I spotted some water damage on my greatroom ceiling that is directly under my bathroom just this morning).

I make an acceptable living.  But, man... there's always something!

I believe that it doesn't matter how much you make, you tend to be always broke !  My husband just had to get money from savings to pay for hearing aids ( I didn't know how expensive those things are) and he was complaining about depleting one of our savings accounts.  We have been married for 38 years and I told him...,".well, we have been broke before !". And I know, we will be broke again......
Slow and steady !!!!  Have a Blessed Day !!!!!!

I hear you.

I have pretty much everything I need, too.  I have plenty of food.  I have a roof over my head.  It leaks in a number of places, but it's still a roof.  I have a car, and it runs most of the time.  I have clothes to wear.  They came from the thrift store, but I'm happy with that.  I get decent medical care most of the time and can afford all the medications I need.

And yes, there is plenty of stuff I want, stuff that doesn't even seem like big stuff to me, stuff that I almost think I need, that I don't have.  I try not to focus on those things.

umm yea I hate being broke. We aren't technically but we are trying to save every penny because I am trying to launch my business, my mom is having surgery and we have to help make up her 40% of income she is going to miss from her check (can't complain ever she gave us 30K for a down payment on our house as a gift) so I am putting my surgery on hold so we can be sure we are ok financially.

My kids as they get older want more expensive things and today I am sitting here thinking of buying that 90 pair of Nike's my kid has wanted since August of last year so she can run with me. We are blessed beyond belief with what we have I just wish my husband would lighten up some and let us spend more money from time to time. I even took a part time job throwing papers to make money for the company I am trying to start and all that money went to paying off our debt....trying to own our house in 15 years vs 30 is a big deal to me....I am shooting for 10 so we shall see. I need to man up and stop letting him be in charge of the money my mom says but I figure he is doing such a good job why bother.
