Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Informative article, and the sad state of our healthcare system in the USA.  Gag orders only serve those companies who are trying to hide the truth about their practices at the expense of the people.

Doctors lying about prenatal diagnoses, well that is just awful. A mother should be fully informed of what is going on with her child, and should be able to decide what avenue is best for what she decides to do about it, not given NO choice because she is unaware.  It defeats the purpose of prenatal care to lie about conditions, and does add to the stress an expecting mother endures.

Something needs to change, but as long as the government is making decisions like this , its going to be hard to overcome.

It is awful, because how are you supposed to trust your doctor if you know he or she might be lying to you?  And if you can't trust your doctor, are you likely to follow his advice?  I mean, I typically take advice from people I trust.

Not to mention that I find the idea that a doctor needs to lie to me in order to get me to do the "right thing" insulting.  Like I can't make good decisions for myself.  Since I am the one that has to live with the consequences of my decisions, I am the one in the best position to know what is right for me.  But of course I have to have accurate information in order to make good decisions.

I can't get into the article. Sad. But I've been lied to multiple times by dr's, and well, I can't talk much about it right now. It's just plain not right.

That said... I've fired doctors for talking to me like I'm an uneducated, brainless twit. And will continue to do that.

Terrilynn,

I've had that happen to me too, and have switched doctors b/c of how i've been treated. Its awful and infuriating. The law is twisting its legalities onto doctors too much, and binding their hands so they can only do so much.  Gagging them from telling the real truth as to why they (patient) may be ailing--in fracking cases in particular--is disgusting.  Fracking came to PA and wants to do anything to get a product, apparently at any cost (people, wildlife) , no expense spared.
