Yes, Chapstick/ lip balm. Take two in case you lose one. Don't be without it.
Take a robe, one that's easy to slip into or put around your shoulders.
I took absorbant underwear in case the combination of IV fluids and reduced mobility caused accidents, but didn't need it after all.
Not everyone has gas. My innards behaved themselves nicely.
If you're used to using moisturizor and hand lotion, pack them.
I regret not getting a haircut before I went. My hair was too long and it got snarled and I looked pretty bad and felt skanky.

I didn't need anyone to stay with me the 1st time. However, the 2nd night I needed more help & ended up calling my husband back. My IV popped out of the vein & my right arm blewup huge with fluids. With my right arm huge & unable to bend & the IV in my left arm - I needed extra help. I did let him go home around 11 pm.
Take some shoes/slippers that slide on and off easily. They will have you up walking after surgery and you will NOT feel like lacing up tennis shoes! Also, take a robe to put over your gown for when you walk. Baby wipes are a good idea too. I had a rough go of it in the beginning. I was in the hospital for almost 5 days. I had really bad nausa and vomiting....or more accurately described as dry heaving because nothing was in my body to come out. I couldn't keep anything down. So I couldn't leave until then. But I am a RARE case. Anesthesia and I do not get along. That has happened with both surgeries I've had in my life. Most everybody gets out the next day! Sending good vibes your way and I hope all goes somoothly.
Dont' take a lot. You won't need much. I took my toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers. Oh, and hair brush. I just wore the same clothes home that I wore to the hospital.
