Random Poll o' the Week: Believe it or not?

I'm on the fence with this question. I believe WLS surgery has worked for me to some extent but because I am statistically behind the curve I worry about making it to goal. I am 100 pounds lighter and I feel great but 100 is not nearly enough weight loss considering my starting weight. At 7mths post op I would still qualify for surgery even at my present weight.

I would like to believe that I am going to be successful with this. So far i have done very well, however there is always that voice of doubt in the back of my head. I like to think that the little voice in the back of my head telling me that I will not succeed, will be the force that helps me succeed just to prove myself wrong LOL.

I am coming from this from a different angle.  I am going to say that WLS is going to work for me.  However, I did not have this surgery to lose weight but for medical reasons.  The surgery has already cured the medical problems that I had the surgery to get relief from -- chronic cough, acid reflux, sleep apnea and muscle and joint pain.  I am off from 2 prescription medications and my CPAP in just 8 weeks.  As an added bonus I  have lost 36.5 pounds and feel better than I have in over a year.

Yes I am working the plan and exercising, getting my protein, watching my diet and getting my vitamins and calcium.  Yes I want to take advantage of the WLS and lose the weight but even if I never lose another pound I consider my surgery an overwhelming success.

Yep, I sure do. It already has. For over three months now, I haven't even wanted most of the junk I binged on pre-op. And I have certainly had plenty of appetite, so it has nothing to do with that.

What I needed most from this surgery was a way to completely break those junk food cravings. And it has done that.

I still have a lot of work to do on my own personal habits--getting sleep, focusing on ME and preparing healthy meals, etc--but as far as the surgery's job? It's done. It has worked. I just have to make sure I do my own part now.

I completely believe this is going to work. I wouldn't go through all of this if I didn't. It is going to be a mind game for me to wrap around the fact that I am losing the weight but I can't wait for the "loser" problems.

I am stubborn and if I want something (I have never wanted anything more than this surgery) I make sure I get it; come hell or high water. As my mom would say ... I'm a bulldog on a bone. So I will be a success story. I won't settle for second best.

In my heart I believe it will work because I'm determined to make it work and I've already changed my habits for the better. HOWEVER....I'll never admit out loud to family and friends that I think I will never gain my weight back. After losing over 100 lbs. and then gaining it all back and then some in the past I'm humbled. I know this is different, but then after WW I just KNEW I'd keep the weight off....and I didn't. So while I truly believe that this is different, you'll never hear me say it!

Preop here, but I do believe WLS will work for me, because I am going to work it for all I can;)  I look at it as a tool, its all in how I choose to use it!!! I am so tired of this battered old body and after many years of being dead set against surgery,I am seeing a whole new light and cant wait for a little help from my "friend"
