Milk and losing weight
Why wouldn't they be OK?
The only possible problem I see is that drinking your calories as opposed to eating them can be an easy way to take in too many calories. A glass of milk, for instance, isn't going to fill you up for long. But as long as you're getting the correct number of calories for you, then I don't see a problem.
Of course, some milk products, like ice cream and some brands of yogurt, are very high in sugar, too, which isn't the best thing to eat when you're trying to lose weight.
But things like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. are great foods for losing weight. I have milk almost every day in a protein shake and eat yogurt almost every day, too.

Milk, yogurt, and cheese are all good sources of protein. Cheese, of course, can be high in fat, so it should be eaten in moderation. I have some of each almost every single day (and have since I has my surgery), and I lost 185 pounds and am maintaining my weight loss at almost 5 years out.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I have trouble getting in enough calories and protein in a day. I add a nightly glass of milk (Mootopia lactose free fat free 12 g protein) to augment that. I may drop it when I consistently hit my calorie goal through food. My schedule is too weird right now to eat as often as I would like. I graduate next spring so thing will settle down then.
I don't. Milk has 12 gr of sugar for 8 gr proteins. Liquid - so it does reach my blood very fast. I avoid it. I rather have protein shake. I may use 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt as a base for proteins. When I try to lose weight I try to minimize sugars and specially liquid sugars.
If milk oe not affect you or your BS - and you feel full after drinking - and stll are losing weight - great. But if not - limit it.

Early on milk was one of the ways I got my protein "quota", and I still use it now, though I am not a big milk drinker. I just make sure that I use skim milk and that I have "room" for it in my calories for the day.
I eat more dairy now that I did in the past. I just keep it fat free or low fat when I can.
