Generally, how do you get your freelancing work? I used to be with Associated Content. Then Yahoo bought it and then BF got busier so that sort of fell off. I'd like to get back into it (although it didn't pay much none of the assignments were that labor intensive so it was all good).
I'm pitching out a few articles to national magazines. That's one good thing about my job. I've been published nationally so I'm pretty familiar with that pitch process!
Anyway, any lead is a good lead! Thanks in advance.

I write for Yahoo Voices (used to be Associated Content). I'm still getting used to the changes they've made there but I'm finding they are paying better up front now than they used to. Still not great, though.
I recently discovered Textbroker. The pay is low but they always have work available and the jobs are super easy.
I used to do a lot of work for Demand Studios, which pays pretty well. Then for a long time, the well pretty much ran dry and there was almost no work there. I recently applied and got approved to write for a special project for them with health and fitness articles, so I'm happy about that. They are so much picker than Yahoo Voices, though, about how stuff must be formatted and what references you can and cannot use, etc. It's a lot more work.
I've found jobs on freelancewriting.com and on craigslist. I have one client I've written for for years now, who owns a bunch of websites. I write what is essentially advertising copy for him. You know, those ads that look like articles but they are really trying to sell you something? I've sold articles to print publications I found listed in Writer's Market.
How do you get most of your work?

I've been published in a few publications here in Baltimore and most of those came by way of contacts I had. I did one for a local free magazine called "Baltimore's Child" and a few others. Most of my published work is via my organization so I don't get paid anything extra for it.
