saw my new PCP today

I wasn't going to be seeing her until June but she had a cancellation today so I got in to see her.  She's not really a doc, she's a nurse practitioner.  I like her.

We went over my labs, which I'd already looked at, of course.  When I had my labs done for some reason they forgot to draw my iron so she had my blood drawn for that while I was at her office.  She mentioned that my ferritin and other iron-related labs looked good and I pointed out that my ferritin has dropped significantly since the last time I had labs done and she said oh, that is a good point.

I asked for a new prescription for B12 shots because I'm out of refills and she hesitated a second when I told I do them every week, but I explained that my level dropped a lot when I was doing them just once a month so she ordered them for every week.

When she was looking at my labs, she commented that my vitamin D level is really good.  I just smiled.

She did not try to tell me I take to much D3 or too much of any other vitamin.

I showed her the weird wart-like bump thing on my lower lip and she did not think it is a wart but was not sure what it is.  She recommended seeing an ENT doc to get it removed and biopsied. So I have an appt for that at the end of this month.

I'm glad that you like her and that the appointment went well as far as nutritional concerns.  I find I very stressful to change PCPs and know that I would be apprehensive about whether a new one would understand the nutritional issues following RNY.

I'm not sure she understands the issues so much, but neither did my old PCP.  She just trusted that I understood them.  If I said I needed a certain amount of D3 or certain labs done, she took my word for it.  Which works just fine for me.

Yes, I am in a similar position.  My PCP has sort of been learning from me (and possibly other RNY patients that he has) as we go along, but he has been very open to whatever information i have given him, and he has always been mindful of the potential nutritional causes for medical issues.  He was the one who first told me about how rampant Vit D deficiency is in the general population.
