For Paul and other runners

I get all sorts of fun assignments on my job. Today's challenge is helping one of our staff members named Paul. Paul is an ultra-marathon runner. His latest run will be the Gobi March. If you want the extreme details they are here:

http://www.4deserts.com/gobimarch/

But basically it is:

-7 days
-250km (155 miles)
-AND you're expected to carry all your supplies (food, water, etc) with you

That's some hardcore shizz. But here's the crazier part. He's done this before! He ran the "Marathon of the Sands last year. And survived. He's using his running to raise money for our organization which provides clean water to communities around the world (among other things).

Just thought I'd share that. Paul, maybe this could be your goal after the Iron Man? Hehehehe.

RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!

I have no words.

I cry like a girl when I have to run 4 miles in 90 degree heat carrying MY WATER BOTTLE AND IPOD.

More power to him!

My foot hurts just from reading that.

Folks like that impress me b/c it's not the physical, it's the mental ability. It really does take a lot for those kind of peeps. I'm just one of 'em. Heck, it would take a LOT for me to do another full.

EDITED: I am NOT one of those peeps -- I'm too weak mentally.

Be happy.

That is awesome!! Good for him!!

I thought I was badass for walking 60 miles in 3 days (one of those in the rain, pitching my own tent in the mud and rain and having soggy sandwiches with no cover...did I mention it was raining?****il one of my Marine friends said he walked that in ONE day.

Way to burst my bubble.

No matter how badass you are, there's always a Marine who's badder.

I wish I could walk 60 miles, no matter how long it took me. I'm still working on one mile.

everyone who has become a runner started with where you are.  We each are motivated for different reasons.  You just have to find the reason that pushes you the most, and losing weight is only a temporary reason.
