On my way

I had my initial consultation with the surgeon today. He said that I am definitely a candidate for RNY surgery. And he will do the hernia surgery at the same time. YAY!! I was really hoping that he could/would be able to do both. I was a little disappointed that I drove 2 1/2 hours for a 10 minute visit today, but it will all be worth it in the long run. Now I have the rest of the appointments next week, fitness, nutrition, and psychological. The surgeon said that I could be having surgery as soon as one month. I am really thinking that it will be closer to 2, but that is all good. I am very excited!! I am truly on my way.

So exciting for you, congrats! Be sure to read up lots on the surgery and keep an eye on these forums to learn from those who've been there. I am 2 days out of surgery and so thankful for the 7 months I have spent on here following others' stories.
Enjoy the ride!

RNY on 05/09/12
I agree with the post above mine.  Spend lots of time on here learning.  I also had my hernia repaired with my RNY.

One thing, though....I had to keep reminding myself that my surgery was not just bypass.  I couldn't figure out why I was more sore than my friend that had only wls.  =)

I have been on here since November or December. Just kind of lurking and reading. I have a couple of friends that have had RNY surgery that I have done a lot of talking with. Thank you for the suggestions. I am excited and scared all at the same time. It is a big relief that I can have both surgeries at the same time because I am very limited in the amount of time I can take off work.
