Anyone tried the new protein bars from Celebrate?  I just got an email about them today.  They have four flavors - caramel peanut, chocolate peanut, cinnamon pecan and lemon coconut, I think.  I'm really interested in the lemon coconut.  I emailed them to see if I can get a sample.  They seem kinda costly but have 16 grams of protein and are low in sugar and might be a good option.

Matter of fact, I just tried the Peanut Butter and Chocolate one the other day.  I was at my local fitness center looking over the protein bars for a protein snack and came across the Simply Bars.  There was the above and the Lemon Coconut one.   Yes, they are quite pricey - $3.00 for a single bar.   What drew me to them was the low sugar content and at least 16g of protein.   I thought, what the heck - might as well try it.

The taste was amazing - no artifical aftertaste,  pretty yummy. They are advertised as only having 9 ingredients, natural, vegan, kosher, milk and gluten free and Low Glycemic. Soy Protein Isolate is the protein source.  Before I knew it, I had eaten the whole bar.  I am only 9 weeks out from surgery and was worried at first that I overdid it - but I was plesantly surprised to find I did not experience any distress or heavy feeling in my pouch.   I decided I wanted to seek out more of these bars and did some research.     They cost $30.00 for a case of 15 - eek!  They do offer a sample pack of 10 mixed bars for $22.00 to try the diffrent flavors.

They are using inulin which is a natural fiber and sweetener.  They are worth a try to me and I just ordered a box of the lemon coconut.  With shipping they are costing me about four dollars a bar, so I will not order again unless they are really good.

Yeah, that's more than I would spend on a regular basis even if they are really good.  But I might get them sometimes if they are really yummy.
