Follow Up Appt today... 6 wks out

Hello!
I wanted to use an emoticon with my title but I needed to use about 6...
Anyhoo, went to dr. today for my "one month" follow up. He is please with my weight loss so far, about 40lbs since pre-op. I don't count those pre-op lbs really but he does...
He wants me to lose another 40 lbs by my next appt, June 20!He says it is totally possible. I don't think I lose that fast and can do it.
I am thinking (and know some things) that I am not doing to my potential to maximize my weight loss.
What can I do? I am exercising more, though at this point, maybe not enough. I really need to keep track of calories better. He wants me to get 800 calories a day, meet my protein and water requirements.
I would love to reach that goal!
Please any advice is more than welcome!!! Thanks.

Your docs advice sounds good to me. Will it enable you to lose 40 pounds by the end of June? Maybe. I don't know. I can't predict. It's wonderful if it does, and if not, that doesn't suggest that you won't reach your goal weight or anything bad like that. The rate at which we lose is just really unpredictible and it varies a whole lot from person to person. It sounds like you're doing great so far and I would just stick with it.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

Weight loss goals are valuable, but I know from long experience that I
am not in control of how much weight I lose. I control what I eat and drink and how I exercise--but how fast, if ever, my body loses weight seems unrelated to what i do. I'm not losing weight postop. It takes zen master ninja kung fu mind control not to freak out over it.
In my opinion, your doc should give you the behavioral goals and leave it at that. Yes, you might very well lose 40 pounds in six weeks! Then again, you might do everything right and lose 5 pounds.
We'll take it on faith, I guess, that eventually, at whatever rate our bodies choose, we will lose the weight.

I say this is it possible yes but is it a MUST no! So do what you can do to your fullest potential and see what results you come up with. I hope you know you are a success already so if he doesn't see a minus 40 at your next visit you know you did your best and that is all that matters.
I would make that a personal goal from the get go anyway on the water and protein. This is what your body needs so make it happen. The exercise I really need to be in a class or with a trainer to work out to my fullest potential. Do you belong to a gym? If not give yourself a kick in the butt and get working. Start trying to do the couch to 5k are you cleared to start jogging?
Tracking your calories too is a must. You need to track everything that goes into your mouth so you don't get forgetful down the road and think oh I will write that in a little bit and forget. You can do this you have done great so far I know you can do it.
When do we get to see a month out pic?
