COMPLETELY OT (and probably inappropriate for posting here) but have you seen this?

My husband was 100% in favor of OUR decision to do child led/extended weaning.  and there is nothing nasty about nursing a child.

Think about how nature intended us to feed our young.  we didn't have cups and sippies and whatnot to go to at a year old.

yes, now i understand that technology has come a long ways so we CAN use different things now.  But that doesn't make the inherent nutrition any less important.

i'm not 'hating', but i do find comments like 'gross, nasty and weird' to be highly judgemental and ignorant based out of lack of knowledge about the benefits.  if people choose not to do it, that's fine, but to be so rude towards others who do is uncalled for.

Why do you feel sorry for the husband?  Perhaps he is in favor of his wife breastfeeding since there are so many known benefits to both mother and child.  Perhaps he wants his wife to reduce her risk of breast cancer and wants his child to have fewer infections.

The picture looks fake, the breast looks too good to be feeding, it should be HUGE, sagging, etc... and looks photoshopped.

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

I think if I COULD have kids and I COULD b'Feed I might feel differently. Doesn't the spouse "share" with the child? Does the breast milk flow when the partner is going at it? I don't know these things, call me ignorant, I don't mind. It was just my opinion. Stick a fork in me I'm DONE.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my girls were off limits when the babies were feeding (well with the little one I was single).

With my oldest I was a breastfeeding warrior. (Prepare to cringe) Little girlfriend drew a blood clot out of my nipple, which made it rupture and literally split in two. My La Leche League rep said she could still nurse on that breast and to do it so that I didn't get engorged on one side, so I did (there is an ointment you put on your nipple that simultaneously heals it and keeps the baby from making it any worse. Needless to say babydaddy didn't want anywhere near that boob! (And I didn't want him near it either)

Besides that fact for the first few weeks your boobs are tender and there is the all too wonderful phenomenon of "let down." Have you ever heard of that? I had it bad. It's basically instinctual and so whenever some nursing women hear ANY baby cry...out comes the milk. I had to triple pad my already H cup (yes, I said H) breasts.

One thing I did resent, thinking back, was the jokes about how I MUST make a lot of milk with breasts as big as mine. It made me feel like an even bigger failure when my kids didn't gain weight from my milk and I had to supplement.

ETA: I will go out on a limb to gross you all out even further. I tasted my breast milk. I am an avid believer that I am NOT feeding my children something I would not personally ingest. Stuff is SWEEEEEET. Or at least mine was. And I've never been a big sugar eater so...I think that breastmilk is just generally sweet.

oh man you went through the ringer nursing her!

There is a lot of misconceptions about nursing.  LIke you said, people assumed you must make a lot because you were large chested.  The amount of breast tissue and the amount of milk glands are TOTALLY unrelated.  I know an A woman who nursed twins.

I wasn't calling YOU ignorant, just parts of the statement.  ignorant simply means ill informed.
