With all due respect, I don't think so. If I or anybody I knew lived our lives on "that's just the way it is" you and I would not be allowed to drink from the same water fountain. So basically that is the antithesis to my core beliefs.

But I will agree to disagree with you.

well I was talking about tv ratings and advertising and what people want to watch for entertainment.

I don't think this has anything to do with bigotry but yes, we can agree to disagree

But see that's the thing. Those are indicators of deeper values.

I'm sure in the example I gave above folks didn't see what the big deal was about having separate water fountains and schools. It's just "what was done" but there was a belief system behind that. That's more the point I was trying to get at.

I am the type who challenges the status quo. For me it is not good enough to simply say "oh well that's just how it's done." My brain wants to know why. There's no right or wrong way to look at it. I don't disagree with the fact that that's how it's done, I was actually just disagreeing that I was overreacting. I don't think voicing your opinion about something like this on a Facebook page is overreacting.

Starting a march in Washington? Maybe just a bit much. But social media awareness, I think, is a good way to express yourself without becoming a zealot.

At any rate, thank you for sharing your honest opinion.

Obviously I am not for the band after living with it for 7 years, I am thrilled to have it out. When it was sold to me it was touted as the best thing ever , and less invasive , I know several bandsters who do well for the first year or two , then the weight comes back on or issues start, but the same could be said for RNY.
I have lost weight "the good/right/natural" way SEVERAL times , I have lost 50 lbs about 6 times, Lost 100 lbs. once and 160 lbs once I basically dieted myself to obesity.

I was pretty upset when Dr. Oz  basically said everyone should have RNY , I wasn't very happy either. he made it sound like it was an easy surgery and never mentioned the complications except he had a lady in the audience who was upset because she had gained most of her weight back after having TWO CHILDREN AFTER RNY, i thought that was stupid

My decision to go with RNY was based on 2 reasons:
1. My health -Severe diabetes on 4 insulin shots daily of almost 400 units of Levemir long acting insulin, 4 oral anti-diabetic meds daily plus 6 high blood pressure meds daily.
2. Seeing 3 people with lap bands regaining alot of weight after losing (one is my poor sweet husband).

I am fully aware that whatever weight I lose I have every chance of regaining too. But personally, I am pro RNY not only when anyone has alot of major health issues that they are fighting, but also for everyone to possibly prevent major health issues.

I hate that it wasn't aired. I think anytime we have the opportunity to see motivational stories then we should be able to watch, especially when it is specifically about success with RNY!
