found out where my PCP went

She is now medical director for a hospice and is not seeing patients anymore, at least not unless they are hospice patients.  I am sad.

However, I talked to one of the nurses at her old office and asked the nurse to recommend which of the docs there she thought would be a good fit for me.  I tried to explain what I look for in a PCP and she recommended one of the nurse practitioners there that she thought I would like a lot.  Prior to the PCP that just left, I saw a nurse practitioner for my primary care for a few years, and I think maybe NP's tend to work a little differently than many doctors.  Maybe they are less likely to think they know everything or are more open to listening to patients or something.   Anyway, I made an appointment to meet with her in June, so we'll see.

Good luck! I you like her. I just switched Drs and I've not decided yet if I like her. I see her again in June.

I hate starting over with new doctors.  I just started seeing a new therapist, I have an appt in a couple weeks with a new back specialist, and now this.

I don't like changing health care people either.  I'm really sorry that you got a triple whammy.

I was switched from my surgeon to a NP at my 3 month follow up. I love her! My parents PCP is a NP and I like her too. I work with NPs in the NICU, and I like most of them. Most NPs seem to spend more time with their patients.

Yeah, I think nurses are trained very differently than doctors, and tend to be much more patient-focused, in general.

I hope things work out for you and that you are comfortable with your new PCP.

I have the same view that many NP's tend to not have a God complex and are more down to earth and easier to talk to. I have been very happy with NP's I have seen in the past.

My PCP is a NP and she is the one that put through my referral for RNY.
