What are you doing/eating today? Monday!

Today is another inexplicably melancholy day for me. I don't know exactly WHY I am in a funky mood, but I am. Boo. I hate that! Could be that Mother's Day is approaching and everywhere I go there is a commercial, poster, ad or the like to remind me about it. This weekend my youngest daughter and I were talking. She was sort of fretting because she didn't have anyone to take her Mother's Day shopping for me. Her Nana always did that. SIGH. I'm trying y'all. I'm trying really hard.

Anyway.

Today is work (provided I don't bite anybody's head off), then to the new house to finish fighting with the damn Ikea furniture. Got the oldest girl's bed put together (after the requisite three meltdowns) and today hope to get the younger's bed done. Tomorrow I need to go and buy them mattresses. God willing, the electricity will be turned on tomorrow! Then we can start staying there (I just need to move MY bed over).

So it's a work in progress, as are most things in my life :)

Eats as I know them:

1. Cottage cheese, strawberries, fakeFiber One (btw Aldi is getting better with that. It ALMOST tastes like real Fiber One this time)

2. Either a Click Frapp or my left over shrimp egg foo yung

3. Whichever I did not have for #2

4. I'm thinking this might be a good hamburger night. Especially since my grill pan and my griddle are the only two pans left at my current house.

I am sorry your are feeling low, Nik.  Mother's Day is really tough for the first few years, unfortunately.  Or it was for me.  Although it was never a huge event for us I missed her so much.  And I found myself getting pissed at those with Mothers.  Especially those people who are quite a bit older than me.  I am the youngest of 7.  My father died first and then when my Mom died...I remember the moment at her memorial service when I realized I wasn't anyone's baby girl anymore.

Also a bit blue today.  My mother was the youngest of 13 and her only surviving sibling (and a favorite Aunt of mine) passed away last Monday.  And that was the last all my aunts, uncles, and grandparents.  Ok, getting misty so let's move on.

Food:
Wake up:FF latte
Breakfast:Looks like weight control oatmeal with a tbsp of PB
Lunch: boneless pork chop and I have a yogurt if that is not enough
S: Yogurt if it's not lunch
D: Leftover "Meatsagna" which is lasagne sans any noodles or noodle substitutes.  Still in the perfecting phase but I am getting close.

Have a great week everyone!

OMG Jazzy, you just struck on something I'd been feeling but was afraid to say out loud!

I look at folks way older than me whose mothers are still alive and think, "really?" I know it's an irrational emotion, but I feel it just the same. My dad is still alive. He's a bit flaky but I've been trying to reconnect with him. We've never been super-close although he TECHNICALLY was not a dead beat dad (per se).

Thanks for understanding and giving words to stuff I am having trouble giving words to.

I have major problems with people complaining about their mother.  My mother died at 39.... what I wouldn't give to have someone to complain about.  Maybe this was amplified because of my age... but I think you get it.  My mom passed on 5/13/88 -- I always have some depression around this time too.

Even after so long, I still have the occasional bad day.

Well you probably got annoyed with me at some point then too! I remember one of the last things I posted here about mom before she passed was not wanting her to go with me to a health expo. I felt like an absolute cad about that. And folks warned me!

I think the other thing that bugs me is that I want someone to blame for her not being here anymore. I don't know that there is any one person. But boy would that be helpful.
