Are attached. I think we might all take a moment to familiarize ourselves. But I would like to point out in particular there is no section about restricted subject matter on the boards.

http://www.obesityhelp.com/content/terms-of-service.html

There is this passage:

You agree that you will not use ObesityHelp.com to post any material which is knowingly false or defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening, libelous, invasive of another member's privacy, or is otherwise in violation of any federal or state laws.

This is, of course, subjective but my guess would be OH goes on a "reasonable person" standard. Some subject matter, while inflammatory is not DEfamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harrassing, obscene profane, threatening, libelous or invasive. Controversial? Maybe. Those other things, no.

The best way, in my little opinion, to avoid bad feelings about your posts or others is to do the following:

1. Be explicitly clear in your post title about what you are posting about.
2. Avoid posts that you think might annoy or offend you. Remember, just because it offended YOU doesn't make it universally offensive and, thereby, does not necessarily make it a violation of the TOS nor does it mean said person should not have posted what they did.

The TOS also says that as members if someone bothers us we can block them. Use that function wisely folks. I find I have a lot more to learn from my so-called enemies than my friends. Just sayin.

But in short, read the TOS. If someone violates the TOS, report them. If they don't and you simply don't LIKE what they have to say, that's sorta your problem. Not theirs.

Thanks

I think they should add an introduction for each board on ObesityHelp.com explaining the purpose for that particular board.  Because this does not exist anything can be posted on any board as long as it has a loose relation to the title of the board.

For example:
A possible intoduction for the RNY board could be: used for sharing information related to the Gastric Bypass surgery, the process before the surgery, dietary restrictions after, and other related medical information.

On the singles board I was slammed for using it to let single ladies know I was single and looking.  Some of the veterans explained that the singles board had always been used for answering questions related to dating and not as a dating / pickup site.  While they may be correct, I think a little introduction blurb for each board can clear stuff like this up.

Might I suggest Eric that instead of being upset at being "slammed" for your attempts to make the Singles Board a pick-up joint, you start a private group?

You could then invite any ladies you come across that take your fancy and pick up til your heart's content!!!! You could even limit the male membership and it could become your own private harem!!

That's what OH Private Groups are for - Eric should consider setting up a dating one, and then he could invite anyone he found that he fancies on all the other boards! Simple!!!

The OH public site is not the appropriate forum for pickups as you would see if you ever went over there! It has enough problems with backline predators - who knows what would come out of the woodwork if Eric had got his way?????

Thanks for posting this.  Since that Charlie Daniels bit was particularly hateful to non-Christians and homosexuals, I guess I will go ahead and report it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that found it hateful.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

That was one of the most hateful and vile things I have ever read.  I was a member back in the days of R&R where we often discussed things like religion and politics and NEVER did so with such a hateful tone.

This truly offended me, and I do not offend easily.

That was hate speech and that is against the terms of service.
It seems this particular poster has no particular use except to post off topic. It doesn't seem like he is here to share his Rny journey.
I will block him.
