Oh, no.  No multis have enough calcium citrate.  I was just talking about the things that are supposed to be in a multivitamin.

Regardless of what multi you use, you'll also need to take 1500-2000 mg calcium citrate and you'll need B12 (sublingual, shots or  nasal spray).

Ok perfect. Thanks Kelly!  All my vitamins were listed separately so I was looking to take as few as possible as well as looking to cut the cost. Thank u!

Unfortunately, there's no way to get around taking a number of different vitamins.  There are a few brands that claim to have everything we need, and they really do not.  Plus there is the fact that certain vitamins prevent the absorption of other vitamins, and it just doesn't work to put everything in one pill.

I take Bariatric Advantage multis capsules and their chewy calcium bites.

It was one of numberous on a list that the surgeon's office/nutritionist's office provided at the info meeting long before meeting with the surgeon.  I chose these and like the stats on them.  They meet the ASMBS guidelines, so I am happy!

I've been curious about this too.  I have a friend who takes Flintstones and says her labs are perfect too.  But is this the result of the doctor saying the labs are perfect, or actually looking at them and reviewing them?  She actuallys states she used to be anemic before surgery all the time, and since surgery and taking the Flintstones her iron level is great (cause an effect of Flintstones or adding a ton more of protein into her diet?).  I guess I can't argue with anyone who is doing what their doctor is telling them to do, if they feel it is right for them and it is working for them.  I will say I've had the @#$% scared out of me when my iron went low, and I will not alter from the recommendations.  For now the B.A. vitamins work for me.  If down the road I get sick of them, I'll probably experiment with something else.  I personally don't trust Flintstones as being what I need, but I know several people who say their labs are great on them and it's what the docs recommended.

Notice how not one single person that uses Flintstones and says they have great labs can tell me their vitamin A or selenium levels?  They don't know if they have great labs or not.  I have asked this question a could times over the past couple years and not once has anyone that takes Flintstones been able to answer it.

I wouldn't choose Flintstones for my kids, either.  They aren't very good vitamins.  They are probably OK for a child that eats a decent diet, but they aren't great.  They certainly aren't good enough for someone with malabsorption.
