to pick up flea prevention stuff for all my cats and insulin for my one kitty that is diabetic.

They had a special on flea stuff - buy nine, get three free.  I have three cats, so that's four months of flea prevention.

And luckily my kitty is on a very low dose of insulin so one small vial will last about one year.  If she even lives that long.

Wanna take a guess at what this all cost?  $329!  Seriously.  I about fell over.

EEEK indeed. They know we will do what it takes to keep our babies healthy and comfortable. A couple of years ago my cat got outside and tangled with someone. To the tune of $400, he had to have an abcess drained and have antibiotics.

I'm sorry to hear about your diabetic kitty.

Apparently my kitties have a real knack for running up huge vet bills.

One fractured a hip (we think he got hit by a car) and needed surgery.  That was something over $500.

The same cat get pneumonia really, really bad.  He had to stay at the vet's for several days and get IV antibiotics.  That was several hundred dollars.

The kitty with diabetes had cancer a couple years ago.  She had breast cancer.  She had to have surgery and chemotherapy.  I think that was something like $2000.

And what are you going to do?  You have to take care of them.

Poor babies. I didn't realize cats could get breast cancer. It's funny that my cat has far more health issues than my dog.

I have a pug, and they, being brachycephalic (sp?), tend to have breathing and sinus issues. But fortunately she's healthy. Roger cat, on the other hand, has run up some big vet bills.

Yeah I have started the college fund for my vet's sons lol. As long as I have a way to, I'll keep contributing to... I love my animals.
One thing I will say about vet prices - they have a lot of the same overhead costs as doctors (staff, building, lights, insurance, meds, anesthesia, continuing ed, etc). It makes me hurt everytime I fork over $$$, but I like getting great care for my pets.

PetArmor is a really good brand. The technician at my vet's office is a good friend of mine, and she recommended I use that instead of Frontline because it costs about half as much. (Of course, she told me this on the downlow)

I got a 6 month supply for my 50lb dog for $50.

Yow, that's quite a pircetag.

My vet recommends Revolution.  After a bad experience when I used Hartz Advantage, because it was cheaper, I am willing to shell out the bucks for something I know works.

Yeah, Hartz is horrible. There have been so many recalls on that crap because it hurts animals.
I would never have used PetArmor if my tech hadn't recommended it.

Sucks that all the flea/tick/heartworm preventative costs so freakin' much. Craziness.

I know.  But you gotta keep the fleas off.  Last summer, when I tried the Hartz, we ended up with a housefull of fleas.  Getting rid of them was so much work.
