Hello!

You are right, I need to move more. I really have no excuse. I think that would help a lot. I bought a new treadmill and it is being delivered/set up on Saturday. I will really have no excuse then. And, of course, I love to see my scale move now, I just need to do more to help it along... Thank you for your words of encouragement!

I don't consider no loss for a few days a stall. I think you're kind of early out for that.

Do yourself a favour and pick one day of the week and weight yourself on that day at the same time.

1. I also HATE exercising. I had/have the very best of intentions to become a person who enjoys it, but I don't. I tried many things.
One motivator was exercise points towards a "reward". My reward was a hot tub. I bought fake money at the dollar store and for ever ten minutes on the treadmill I would give myself $10.00 as a reward. I made a poster of a big calendar. I stuck pictures on it of what I wanted (bikini/sexy clothes etc)  and would stamp every time I exercised. I did it for a couple of months off and on and then it fizzled.
It is imporatnt to exercise, but we are not all Jane Fonda. Do the best you can. The fact that your level of activity has increased is good.

2. Yes measuring is important. If you don't measure how can you truly know what you are eating?

3. Who cares if you are a slow loser. Focus on the more important things like following your guidelines. If you are doing everything right, then the weight will come off.

All the best!

Thank you for the sound advice. I am going to try my best to stay off that scale. I have gotten to where I only weigh in the morning, well that is the only weight I will count... But I should probably stay off for a week. Thanks for the tips!

I hated exercising too until I found something I loved and I and I had a partner. Try out different types of exercise besides walking and the video if you can. With that said my Dr said 3x a week 3o minutes is all that I needed. So I am betting you get that in right? Find something that motivates you. I get on the elliptical in the gym and say ok for the next 30 minutes I am here I can't get off. I tell myself I can do anything for 3o minutes. I also think of the Biggest Loser people all the time how they can do these insane workouts and they are still living. I realize you ae still tired probably so start slow.

Measure your food. I learned that is WW what I thought was a cup was surely not a cup LOL!

I think you are losing great! You are doing a wonderful job and posting here will keep you on track. Good Luck!!!

Hey sis,

Thank you for your encouraging words. I need to just get off my laurels and do it. I really have no excuses. I need to find some suitable stuff. I really like my DVDs and my treadmill is coming tomorrow. I have enough options at home. I just HATE being so limited by the fat. I can't do anything as well or as efficient as I want. I know things won't happen overnight but I want to be able to do more without dying:)

Hi Lisa,
First off, congrats on the accomplishments to date. The first 3 motnhsa re the hardest. It is so overwhelming. Especially the measuring and all the water. I remember thiinking, while on all clears,"if I never see a speck of jello again I will die a happy girl..lol"..Measuring will not last forever. I will say after about 3-4 weeks you get an "eye" for size and weights ect. Somestuff you wil lstill need to measure, weigh ect. But your eyes get better and it is not as tedious. Next exercising..Yeah it is the devil's word, isn't it? But remember any type of movement at this point is counted. I like someone's suggestion about parking farther iin the mall, walk in the mall.make extra rounds in the grocery store.. You will not be Tony Little in 4 weeks post op. You are still recovering and still need to "learn" how to get moving. It's not something that has ever been into your daily life. I know at 4 weeks post,I was not exercising. I was back to work (at home daycare).Maybe walking to and from the stores, prek pick up etc..But that was it.it wasn't until my heels spurs quit hurting at about 50 pounds off. then I decided to get a DVD..Even then it was 2 days a week, then 3,then 5..I didn't make myself do it daily because I knew iwould resent it. i did it when it fit into my life and when it started to make me feel good. When you are overweight exercising HURTS..You can't breathe, things jiggle that no one wants to see (although after 150 pounds gone, you still have lots of jiggle,it just looks cuter :).. it's all forgein to you,but it won't always be that way. You need to find a form of exercise that works for you.  What worked for me? Believe it not Richard Simmons.now I'm almost 10 ys out,so it was a  while ago..lol Also Tony little.Although his tends to really get on my nerves,so I would mute him. I didn't havea gym membership. I had 3 kids and a hubby who had a big social life. I had to find what worked for me.. It may take you a few different times to figure it out.
You may be getting hungry,so you think. Not head hunger, but probably thirs****er water water until your eyeballs feel like they will float away. My rule of thumb has always been water first, food second. I will drink what I can take in for 15 minutes.then go do something..Maybe organize a closet, vacuum a room, gardening..if you work outside the home, get started ona project, clean out your computer..Anything to take your  mind off of eating. After another 30 mins has gone by if you are hungry, allow yourslef a snack. I can only say a handful of times,I actually ate. I never saw my thirst signs until I did this. Just a  suggestion for you!!  I will be 10 yrs post in Sept...I have lost a total of 155 pounds and kept it off....I hope this helps you too..

Wow. Thank you for taking the time to offer so much insight. I really appreciate it. I am printing this out, too! I am going to ease into it. I am the type of person who is so gung-ho in the beginning then falls off the bandwagon quickly. That is something I am going to have to work on for myself. But, I didn't go under the knife for nothing! I am going to keep working on it. Thank you.

Lisa, I have a hard time getting motivated to exercise.  Maybe we could be workout buddies and challenge each other?  Right now, all I can do is walk or do stationary bike (which I don't have, so walking it is!****il I get the clearance from my doctor to do more.

I know I could use the motivation!  Let me know!

Hey,

Let's do it! I don't have any work out buddies. That would probably help me along. I say we go for it! Thanks!

Other people might have mentioned this but here goes.

You don't have to "exercise" - walk the dog, mall walk, dance around the house while you clean, do you like to garden? Find any activity you enjoy doing that involves any body movement.

And track every bite you eat, calories & protein.
