Oh my!  I am anticipating the same thing, but it is never nice to have hopes dashed.  I feel for you!  Keep it together and keep following procedure (i.e. send in appeals and all that).  Good luck to you!

WOW, this makes me nervous as I have read all the posts. Do you mind me asking what insurance company you have? Is there an exclusion in the policy? I hope you get approved with the appeal.

wow, this makes me nervous as well.  My BMI is a 37 but I too have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and Type 2 diabetes.  I will say a prayer for you.  Please do the same for me.  My surgl date is May 10th and I am still waiting to hear about approval.

It seems like they may not have all the info they need, have YOU written all of this to them , with documentation to go along with it? do you have EVERYTHING done ? scope, x-rays-classes-h pylory test-bloodwork etc?psych eval? pcp letter? anyother docs letter?
You qualify on your BMI alone , that what makes me think they don't have all the info they need.....and CAN'T appeal??? I think that is against some laws , you can ALWAYS appeal. Ask for a case worker and see what happens, don't take no for an answer

I recommend that you get a copy of the insurance company's specific policy on weight loss surgery.  That will allow you to check all the boxes and make sure that you have everything in line.  Also make sure that your company doesn't have specific requriements etc for bariatric surgery.

This is a lifelong journey, and it takes a lot of patience both before and after surgery.

Good luck!

my mother always said "appeal appeal appeal"   Keep appealing and they might eventually approve it.  She works for an insurance company so I trust that she knows what she is saying.

Realize Band 11/2009 ... revision to RNY 12/27/11.

What I gathered from your page is you are on medicaid so that probably plays a big part it the denial.  Good luck on your appeal!!!!

I went through hell with insurance company!  I suggest you get on the phone and speak to them directly and find out exactly what their requirements are for the surgery.  Then get it in writing and go back to the drawing board with your surgeon's insurance specialst and appeal.  There  are also great appeal letters on this site you can use to send your own appeal letter to your insurance company in a certified letter as I did!  You need to be persistent, but you MUST know your own policy and their requirements for this surgery.

Good luck!
