Protein drinks

I'm pre-op and scheduled my surgery. I want to stock up on some good protein shakes a head of time. What one's are your guy's favorites? My mom said she'd get me the pre-made ones but not sure if I'd be buying them myself as they are kinda spendy.
So, if you've had the premade shakes which kind do you like and if you do the powder what's your fave?
I know someone mentioned using sugar free flavored syrup to make it taste better?
Thoughts?
Thanks!!!!

I hated all the powders and settled on two different premades. One was EAS AdvantEDGE available at Walmart for less than $5 for a 4 pack. Comes in dark chocolate, chocolate fudge, strawberry and french vanilla. All are good, but I prefer the chocolate flavors.
The other is a fruity drink - Isopure. Comes in punch and grape. It is about $10 for a 4 pack. It is sort of like a koolaid drink.
One warning - do not stock up on too much because your taste may change tremendously after surgery. What shakes you like beforehand may turn your stomach afterwards. I was hooked on Unjury chocolate and stocked up on it. Now I have two tubs that I can't tolerate.

I really, really recommend not stocking up ahead of time. The thing is, many people find their tastes change when they have RNY. I don't really understand why it happens, but the shakes I liked pre op (Atkins) tasted disgustingly sweet to me post op. It took about a year for my tastes to go back to normal.
My favorite ready made shakes are the Oh Yeah banana and cookies and cream. My favorite powder is Syntrax Nectar cappuccino.
But I would get a lot of samples so you can see what you like post op. Then stock up.

Thanks ladies!! Yeah sorry I should clarify I didn't actually mean stock up I mean't more like buy a few kinds so I had them ready for after surgery. :)
Hello! I am 3 days out of surgery and think that you are right to just get a few to try and see what you like after surgery. One thing I was not expecting after surgery is that I cannot handle anything sweet tasting...crystal light, sugar free jello and pudding, I can barely get down some fat free yogurt. I am not sure if this will change but I am dealing with it for now. I found a shake called Premier Protein from Sam's Club that cost $18 for a 12pk. These pack 30 grams of protein per 11oz. which is a lot more than most out there...I can barely take this down because it is sweet as well. I bought the chocolate and to me it taste like a chocolate milk shake. You can count these toward your protein and your liquids and this is great because trust me it is hard to get everything in! Good luck with your surgery!
My doc also approves of the Pure Protein brand shakes sold at walmart also, theyre pretty good. They come in 23g of protein or another version has 35g but the 35g are usually sold at GNC and places like that. Walmart has the 23g cans.
For powders i like the Bariatric Advantage flavors, and I've heard lots of folks on here mention Unjury brand but I've never tried it.
Nectar is very yummy but I only like it ICE COLD. Otherwise it tastes like melted jello to me.
Isopure is full of protein and for me was perfect for the week after surgery when I could only drink clear liquids. It must be cold and goes down best when diluted with about 50/50 water. I liked the Black Tea flavor best and it actually tasted like lemon iced tea to my tastebuds.

My favorites are Atkins Mocha Latte RTD - I have one for breakfast every morning.
I also like About Time. It comes in many flavors and I like them all. You have to order this from their website. It has no protein smell or taste to me.
Unjury is not bad either.
Everyones tastes are different and tastes to change after surgery.
I couldn't drink EAS, Isopure, and a couple of the Syntrax flavors.
It's a good idea to order samples and try them out.

Not only can your tastes change right after surgery, mine have changed 6 months out. Suddenly the though of a protein powder shake makes me gag. I even bought a Syntrax (twisted cherry)online and can't stand it. I had been drinking Isoflex which I bought at Popeye's but I am sick of it. Now I am on the hunt again. Get samples whenever you can and there are some places like GNC who will let you return if you don't like the product.
