Well, I would go to my PCP and get it checked out. I think we are jumping to assumptions by thinking that it's definitely HPV. Maybe it's something else. If it turns out to in fact be HPV, then you will have to take it from there and talk with your partner about it.

Yeah, we are jumping to conclusions.  When I googled "warts in the mouth" that's pretty much all I found.  I suppose one should not diagnose one's self based on google, though.

I think it's a wonderful idea to have a doctor look at it as soon as you can.  The only way to know what is causing it is to actually do a biopsy, or sometimes a blood test.  Sometimes an irritation in the mouth can even develop into a hard area.  I know it's hard when something is right there on your lip, but try not to let it worry you while your waiting to see the doctor.

Go ahead and have the doc take a look at it.  I am not sure if you need to see a dermo doctor and if you need a referral or not to see one.  Not sure how medicare works. You have alot on your plate right now, girl.  Looks like Monday you get to see your new therapist.  I am hoping the best for you.  So might as well make an appointment and get it checked out.  Most of the time it's not what we think.
keep up posted.  Many of us wish we all lived nearer one another so we could be more hands on in supporting and helping our OH sisters.  Keep us posted.  You are such a likable person, Kelly.  Do you write poetry by the way?  Take Care, Kelly.  Jane in =^-^=California

I don't need a referral to see a dermatologist but I guess I'll see my PCP first anyway since, as someone else pointed out, I need a pap test and stuff anyway (whether or not this wart is HPV).

Yeah, I see the new therapist Monday.  And I am also calling the Spinal Health Center at the Cleveland Clinic next week to make an appointment about my back.

I do write poetry, yes.  Well, I used to write a lot of poetry.  I haven't written much lately.  I have to be in the right mood.  I've had a fair amount published but unfortunately it's hard to get paid for writing poetry.  You're lucky if you get a free copy of the publication it appears in.  So the poetry is more of a hobby and I write boring articles for a living.

Kelly you might want to see your dentist if it is a lesion in the mouth. Dermatologists aren't as up on oral lesions as a dentist is.

Oh.  I hadn't thought of that.  Would a dentist be able to remove a growth in the mouth or do a biopsy, though, if needed?

Yes a dentist or an oral surgeon would remove it and do a biopsy. I had a couple of odd lesions between my teeth two years ago and an oral surgeon removed them and did the biopsy.
