OT - question about warts
From some quick googling, I see that warts in the mouth are often caused by the HPV virus, which is the same thing that causes genital warts, and yes, you would get them in yoru mouth in the way you would imagine you would get them there. Since my partner does not have genital warts (I mean, he has no symptoms, can you have the virus with no symptoms? and still transmit it?), I'm thinking it must be some other type of wart.
Anyway, I guess I should have a doctor look at it, right? Should I see my PCP? Or should I see a dermatologist? I had a wart on my hand several years ago and my doctor told me to just buy that over the counter thing that looks like a bandaid that you stick on the wart and in a few days, the wart fell off. But I can't really use that in my mouth.

They might not do anything and since it doesn't really bother me at all, I don't particularly care if they remove it or not. I just want to make sure it's just a wart and not some sort of tumor or something. I used to work for a hospice and saw people that had ignored lumps and other growths until it was too late. I get those things checked.

I've been meaning to schedule an appt for a pap and stuff anyway, so I guess now I have another reason to do so.

The body will build and immunity to it at which time it is no longer contagious. If it's in question I would say get it checked to make sure so as not to spread it. (although not sure how you would).
When we got together, we'd both had negative HIV tests and both believed we were free from any other STD, but perhaps we were mistaken about that.
