Pain in my shoulder.
I was told by the surgical nurse that these pains can last up to 3 weeks.

If it is gas, you will get rid of it so much faster if you walk, walk, walk. I can't tell you how many times a day, everyday I got up and walked around my house for 15-20 minutes until it was no longer an issue. Before I was cleared to drive I had hubby and other family members take me anywhere they were going (grocery store, errands) and I would get out and walk for however long it took them to take care of whatever business they had.
I had my surgery on April 19th and the gas is in my chest and left shoulder. While I was in the hospital they gave my heat pouches to put on it and they actually worked to move the gas around. Now that I am home I am using a heating pad when im not up walking around.
Good luck to you. I actually think this gas pain is worse than the surgery.

You want to walk walk walk.
The thing is that they put a gas into your abdominal cavity to provide the doc with a greater visual area. Some of the gas is trapped in your abdominal cavity and it takes a while for the gas to be absorbed by the tissue and the pain to ease off. My first Laproscopic surgery I was hurting for SIX weeks. for my RNY I did a LOT of walking as I heard that would help, and I only experienced one or two twinges. I don't know if that meant that walking was a super-cure, or if my surgeon was more conscientous about getting as much gas as possible out of my abdominal cavity and therefore I just had less pain because I had a better surgeon for RNY than for my emergency GB removal.
Though to be honest, I've had 3 other laproscopic procedures and done a lot of walking in each case, and had no pain for those.
