Seasonal Wardrobe Paranoia
Anyone who has been on this board for a length of time knows I like to make up mental conditions for post-ops. Well...to be fair I don't make them up out of thin air. They are based on my experiences and those of people I know.
So Seasonal Wardrobe Paranoia or SWP.
Post ops who are two years or more out. Do you find yourself:
-Getting a wee bit nervous when it comes time to switch your seasonal clothing?
-Experiencing a feeling of dread that your last summer/winter's clothes won't fit even though there is no evidence to support that fear?
-Experience an extreme sense of relief when you try ON said clothes and find they do, in fact, fit?
Then you too have experienced Seasonal Wardrobe Paranoia. You are not alone. It affects one in three post-ops (ok...so that was totally made up...).
I post this because it is a nice day in Baltimore so I hauled out last year's summer clothes and picked a pair of denim capris to wear and sighed in relief as they pulled up and buttoned just fine. Another year at the same weight. Oddly, I am ok with that, even if the weight isn't what I thought it would be.
Like I said...bigger than my smallest, WAY smaller than my biggest...that's my new attitude toward my body.

Wait till you get to that point. Right now you are still at the point of hoping last year's stuff does NOT fit. But when you get to maintenance it's a whole different ballgame baby!

Gee, so nice to have my innermost fears so well defined and validated with a named condition. LOL And here I was, not even acknowledging to myself what I was thinking as I tried on last years summer clothes. So now I have to admit another condition I suffer from (heavy sarcasm).

Since I was so sick last summer and with my diabetes diagnosis, I have been working extra hard the past 8 months or so - diet, exercise etc. Back to my slimmest (and lightest) in 5+ years.
Need a whole new summer wardrobe, which would be great if I had the money to pay for it! Managed to pick up some shorts this week on sale at Walmart, so I have that covered and my maxi dresses are more a one size fits all, so I might be able to make do ...
Last year was not nearly so kind and SWP was very valid! I love how I look, but more so how I feel this year!!!!

Congrats, hot mama!
Yeah for the year I've had...fitting in last year's clothes is a joy and a blessing. Next year I hope to be back in my 8's. That was the smallest size I ever achieved post-op and I rather liked it. I have on a pair of 10's now but most of my stuff is 12's.

I don't actually FEAR it but it's been odd..
This past fall I consistently increased weight (on the scale) to the mid 140s and my jeans from last spring didn't fit -- and it's all in my rear. So, while I was upset that my Tommy size 0s didn't fit, I was happy that I finally saw the results of my INTENSE work to build that backview (still working on it but it's better than what it was)-- anywhere from a 2-6 in jeans and that's A-OK with me.
Now, about a month ago, I realized it was time to pull out some shorts and I was like, "well, if my jeans didn't fit, I'm sure my shorts from last year won't fit either..)...well, they fit!!!!
It's so weird but I actually like my body now and seeing the whole picture rather than the scale (as I also shared in my last week's post about my biometric screening).

Be happy.
I don't suffer yet from SWP, but I do from GWOP.
Yes, I wake up believing that I've gained huge amounts of weight overnight (Gaining Weight Overnight Phenomena).
For instance, this morning I grabbed a pair of capris I haven't previously worn, bought on sale and they fit then, but just KNEW this morning that I had GWOP'ed and they wouldn't fit (and trust me when I say it looked as if there was no way my kiester was going to get in them), but lo and behold, I didn't (GWOP), they did (fit) and I'm sitting here comfortably (and slightly proud).

You need to come up with a name for the condition, I am freaking out because these bat wings looked really good in long sleeves and now what do I do?
