As a mental health counselor, I can tell you that it is somewhat common for people to become anorexic after WLS. More common than that, however, is the "chewing and spitting" behavior, which -- even though it is not a specific DSM-IV eating disorder -- is "disordered eating" nevertheless and should be addressed. Purging is much less common because of the physical difficulty of forcing yourself to vomit after RNY, but it is not unheard of.
