Hey Guys,

I just saw on Facebook that one of Nik’s friends, Ruby Sue Robinson, lost her adult son unexpectedly and is scrambling for money to bury him. To help, Nik is donating her Quest bar commissions to Ruby Sue for the month of April. I’ve heard Nik say several times she can’t post things encouraging folks to order from her site because of the terms of service, but I’m not Nik so I can.

This seems really important to her to help her friend, so if you order Quest bars at all, please consider ordering them through Nik’s link. She plans to send the donation at the end of the month to Ruby Sue. On her Facebook post she said Ruby Sue has inspired a lot of her recipes and helps out the WLS community a lot. So if you were going to order anyway, this is a good chance to help out.

Wow, Traci, thanks for posting this!

You are right that I was a bit gun shy about posting about this myself. I don't want to get kicked off the site, frankly.

Ruby Sue is a good lady and she's done a lot for the WLS community. I think having lost my mom so very recently I sort of feel called to pay forward all the generosity and support that was shown to me. Plus, somehow I think by doing this my mom is smiling down. Call me crazy, but it's what gets me through my days and nights.

Thanks for posting this. It means a lot.

I just placed an order and clicked through your site. I have never ever had a quest bar so I ordered a bunch of sample packs. Looking forward to trying the apple pie and hope this atleast helps your friend a little.

Nik, I am so sorry, I didnt know your mom passed away.  I am so sorry. I guess I didnt see the post and dont open most of the food posts to see any other references to it since.  I also lost my mom at a young age, so I know what you are going through.  I was 36 when my mom passed away - I cant believe it has been 13 years.  It does get easier as times goes on but I do think of her everyday and I miss her so much.  She was my best friend and there are so many times now that I need her so much.  I know you have good family and friends that will help you get through this.  If you ever want to talk to someone - you can always write me.  Mom's should be forever.

Thank you so much. With her passing so recent I admit I am still wrapping my head around the fact that she's gone.

I actually don't have a lot of traditional family but I have a wonderful extended family and they have helped a lot. It's so comforting to know everyone is thinking of and praying for me.

But I miss her very, very much. I try to still talk to her. Out loud. In my head. It will take some getting used to. Yesterday I went to support group and my surgery hospital is right around the corner from where we buried her. Man, that was hard. But one step at a time is what I say. Put one foot in front of the other.
