I Just Got Final Approval!!

I just got my final approval from the insurance company (BCBS) so I am cleared for surgery on Monday (April 9th). I'm stoked!

CONGRATS! I am in limbo waiting. Can you tell me when your doc submitted to insurance? I am curious as to what the turn around time is?

I was freaking out for the past few weeks because the hospital kept waiting and waiting to submit the paperwork but when I spoke to the coordinator at the hospital she said that with some insurance companies they have to wait until the last minute to send the paperwork or else the claim will be automatically denied. By submitting it at the last minute it forces the company to review it quickly and you are more likely to be approved (as long as you meet guidelines). I called the insurance company myself two days ago and they said that they didn't have any pre-approval request on file and when I called today they said that they had it and it was pending. A coordinator from the hospital called me tonight and said it had been approved and I was all set for surgery on Monday (04/09).

Congrats! I am very excited for you! Good luck on Monday. Don't forget to sip your water and get walking as soon as you can. It really does make recovery easier.
