THanks you guys!

I took the first step to a healthier me almost a year ago when I decided to quit smoking. I have been smoke free now since July of last year.
The surgery is another step in the process of becoming the heathiest me I can be!

I am very much looking forward to the journey and all the milestones along the way!

I was a guzzler before surgery and afterwards believe me you wont be able to. Anything more than a sip is going to feel like fluid is coming back up your throat and it will hurt big time. You learn REAL quick not to take more than a sip. As time goes on you will be able to get down more than a sip. Im almost a year out and now can take a good 2-3 pulls of water down at a time...not the same as before but it does satisfy my thirst.

This is different for everyone. I am four months out and can drink large quantities at one time.

I'm so glad you asked this question. I'm still a couple of months out - but this is one of my principal worries. I like to be constantly drinking - so not being able to drink while eating - or take in large amounts of water bugs me a lot about the whole process.

I wish I could still guzzle.  I have 5 more Isopure drinks that I don't like.  I wish I could guzzle them down instead of working them all day long.

I could drink about 12 ounces at a time after the first week.

I can drink pretty much the same as pre-op. I can feel when it is time to take a breath / slow down from drinking because of the pressure.
I wait an hour after eating.

I can't remember when it happened but all of a sudden I could take a couple swigs and now about 4 or 5 regular swigs.  It certainly makes getting 64 oz down.  As everyone said, post-op you'll have to cut back a lot.
